LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) — More than 200 schools have opened up for the expansion of the limited face-to-face(F2F) in the Cordillera region following the lowering of the alert level status to 2.
Department of Education – Cordillera Regional Director Dr. Estela Cariño said 266 schools in the region opened as of February 21, 2022 out of the 765 schools that submitted intentions to open up for the expanded face-to-face classes.
Mountain Province has the most number of schools that opened with 148, followed by Benguet with 57 schools, Abra with 30, Ifugao with 26, Tabuk City with three and Kalinga with two schools.
The province of Apayao and the city of Baguio have not yet opened any schools for the limited face-to-face.
She said that the schools that already opened have been given consent from their respective LGUs and were already validated as compliant with the standards of the School Safety Assessment Tool.
Learners participating in the face-to-face classes also have the written consents of their parents. Those who do not parents’ consent are still allowed to attend the modular classes.
Schools or Division must have secured the concurrence of the local chief executive in the city or municipality where the school is located, and the schools must also have taken the proper coordination with their respective barangay officials before being allowed to re-open.
“Ang iba ay challenged na makakuha sa LGU consent kagaya ng Baguio na barangay ang nag bigay kaya iyun na ang gagamitin nila sa pag bukas ng classes,” she said during the inspection of schools in La Trinidad, Benguet.
Cariño said that based on their monitoring and inspection of schools in Baguio City and Benguet, there are still some minor adjustments needed to be made such as the directional arrows, signages, placement of the wash areas and the manning of the triage and isolation areas.
DepEd CAR hopes that all the 765 schools will open their doors to learners by March 15, 2022. **JDP/RMC- PIA CAR
