TINOC, Ifugao– Three municipalities of this province passed resolutions showing dissatisfaction in the presence of communist terrorist groups (CTGs) and other illegally-armed groups in their respective places.
Members of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Hungduan passed Resolution No. 2019-044 declaring the CTGs as persona non grata and strongly opposing the entry and access of other illegally armed groups in all barangays of the municipality.
The resolution stated that since the early 1990s with the united efforts of the municipal and barangay officials and all stakeholders controlled the lingering communist insurgency and established a good image of the municipality as a peaceful and non-violent town.
“The unlawful activities perpetrated by the communist insurgents who created an atmosphere of fear, suspicion, tension and terror among the local residents, tourists and visitors hampering the economic growth and development in the region and stagnated social and economic development in the locality,” the resolution added.
The SB of Tinoc town passed Resolution No. 514-2019 denouncing the presence of a CTG to uphold peace and order in the municipality. Concerned agencies disclosed that there are reports of sightings of CTGs in the different barangays hence a resolution was needed to avoid further encounters and maintain the peaceful situation in the community.
In Mayoyao, the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC), Municipal Anti-drug Abuse Council (MADAC) and the Liga ng mga Punong Barangay (LMPB) approved a resolution prohibiting the entry of the Communist Party of the Philippines – New Peoples Army (CPP-NPA), National Democratic Front (NDF) and other lawless elements in the municipality.
The body perceives that the entry of the CPP-NPA in the municipality is a threat to the peaceful living of the people for it will draw the Armed Forces of the Philippines and will result in their encounters.
“The municipality does not want to recollect and experience again the gruesome incidents brought by the clashes of the two opposing forces where civilians became victims and in constant danger,” the resolution stated.
In support of the joint-resolution of the MPOC, MADAC and LMPB, the sangguniang bayan passed a resolution denouncing the presence and activities of CTGs and to preserve the peace and order situation in Mayoyao town. **JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao
