The Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED) led by its Chief Engr. Filemon A. Salvador conducted onsite monitoring of three Solar-Powered Irrigation Systems (SPIS) in Alfonso Lista and Lamut, Ifugao on March 19 and 20, respectively.
When completed, these projects will provide additional irrigation support to corn and organic agriculture production in the covered areas. It is expected to facilitate the increase of cropping intensity especially in the rain-fed areas due to its provision of timely and reliable irrigation water requirement. SPIS projects are being recommended in various areas because this technology is cost-efficient and climate change resilient in nature.
Per monitoring, the SPIS projects in Pinto, Alfonso Lista and Mabatobato, Lamut are completed as to program of works while the project in Lawig, Lamut has standing punch lists for compliance of the contractor. Said projects are also awaiting conduct of agricultural machinery test and evaluation or AMTEC Testing which are scheduled within the month.**DA-CAR
