Torrential rains and strong winds unleashed by typhoons Crising, Emong and Dante plus the incessant southwest monsoon rains over Luzon left one person dead, two injured, one missing and 378 families composed of 1,593 individuals affected by flooding and landslides in different parts of the city.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) reported more than P40 million in damages to public infrastructures from July 17 to July 31, 2025 due to the parade of the three typhoons and incessant monsoon rains.
In the CDRRMC Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) as of 5PM on July 31, 2025, there were 98 soil erosion, landslide and rockfall incidents plus one possible sinkhole subject for further validation of the Environment Management Bureau (EMB).
A total of 91 fallen and leaning trees were cleared in various locations in the city.
A total of 34 families consisting of 138 individuals are still seeking shelter in various barangay evacuation areas while 128 families composed of 370 individuals are temporarily residing with their neighbors or relatives due to damaged houses.
There were nine totally damaged houses and 57 partially damaged houses while one vehicle was totally wrecked due to rockfall.
Meanwhile, the Benguet Electric Cooperative reported estimated damages to their electrical lines amounted to P7.2 million as of July 31, 2025.
Engr. Charles Bryan Carame, CDRRMO head said most of the property damages were due to soil erosion and fallen trees.
The CDRRMC Response Cluster is still attending to soil erosion and fallen tree incidents affected by the continuous torrential rains and the City Emergency Operations Center remains on red alert status. ** JM Samidan
