AI shows have made their way into many peoples’ lives. Walk around the city or ride a jeepney and you will inevitably hear that monotonous Ai voice, turn towards it and you will see the crisp and perfect characters that only machines could ever create.
Some time ago and even now, many advocated for limited social media use for children particularly because of the unrealistic beauty standards that is set by social media. This undermines a child’s perception of themselves and sets them down a toxic path to achieve that perfect look that in reality is only ever achieved through cosmetic surgery or extensive editing.
Now, many people are drawn to dull characters with perfect faces and bodies and the same issues may rise again. People set down the path of impossibility and self-hate. We also have the issue with AI data center’s water consumption when water is already so scarce for Filipinos and we have a two-pronged attack on the population.
AI content is slop at most. And it deserves the same intensive scrutiny people have mounted in the past towards social media. Just because it is quickly becoming the norm does not mean its whole acceptance must be mandated. It is a field that brings its own set of consequences and deserves to be a topic of discussion both in the regular household and the highest level of space. **
