BONTOC, Mtn. Prov.– To celebrate the 52nd birthday of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) President Dr. Rexton F. Chakas, will spearhead his Social Action Program (PSAP), the walk for a cause to benefit the Bontoc Green Police, garbage collectors and a 12 year-old boy undergoing dialysis, the Alumni Relations and Job Placement Office said.
Dr. Rexton F. Chakas on Thursday, November 2, said they are all set for the event which will be held on November 10 at 6:00 a.m.
“We are conducting this year’s fund raising activity dubbed as “Walk for a cause – 52 @ 52” to help the Bontoc Green Police and the garbage collectors as a way to recognize their “instrumental” role in minimizing garbage problems in this capital town and to help save a child who is fighting for dear life – Ezekiel Kolnog, a 12 year-old, grade 8 student who was recently diagnosed of stage 5 renal failure who is undergoing daily dialysis,” said Dr. Chakas.
PSAP started in 2014, that eventually became an annual fund raiser which coincides with the birthday of the College President.
“It was an ambitious idea, but with an extremely supportive family, friends and community, the PSAP’s walk for a cause continued to draw participants each year,” the college president added.
The activity also aims to seek environmental protection action of the local government officials and the public regarding issues such as proper solid waste management/disposal and protection of the water and air.
To make the college president’s 52nd birthday more memorable, the registration fee for the event is P52.00. It will start at the MPSPC frontage and will end at the MPSPC Quadrangle with a short program and a full hour zumba exercise. Proceeds of the event shall go directly to the beneficiaries. **Wynner Sayaan
