LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) — The provincial government of Benguet with the Department of Education-Cordillera gear up for the hosting of the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) 2025 Regional Sports Meet.
Set on February 23 to 28, 2025 in the capital town of La Trinidad, the CARAA is expected to be attended by about 4,500 athletes, coaches, trainers and school personnel for the duration of the regional sports meet and another 1,500 local officials and other guests and visitors on the opening day.
During the CARAA 2025 Steering and Working Committee coordination meeting, DepEd-CAR Regional Director and acting Benguet Schools Division Superintendent Estela Cariño presented the operational plan for the CARAA which includes the preparations for proposed billeting schools for the athletes and the technical officials, playing venues, schedule of other events and other technical details for the hosting of the event.
The Benguet Sports Complex will be the main playing venue for the CARAA. Most of the sporting events will be played in venues in La Trinidad while some will be in Baguio City and in Tublay, Benguet.
Carino also presented the working committees and their duties and responsibilities for the upcoming CARAA sporting event.
Governor Melchor Diclas stressed that the hosting of the CARAA will showcase the hospitality of the people of Benguet as the 13 municipalities will be clustered to host the delegates from the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province and Benguet and the cities of Baguio and Tabuk.
He said that the provincial government with the support of Congressman Eric Go Yap and other stakeholders will do all the necessary preparations to ensure a smooth and memorable CARAA experience in Benguet.
Diclas disclosed that a total of P25 million has been allocated for the funding of the CARAA 2025 which includes the hosting, the refurbishment of the billeting areas and playing venues and the other logistics for the sports meet.
The governor appeals for cooperation of all i-Benguets for the successful conduct of the athletic event which the province is hosting after 10 years.
The meeting was attended by DepEd-Benguet Assistant Schools District Superintendent Samuel Egnasen, Board Member Fernando Balaodan Sr., municipal mayors, heads and representatives from the various department of the provincial government, national line agencies, law enforcement agencies, higher education institution and other schools and institutions. **JDP/RMC PIA-CAR
