LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) — The provincial government is keen on conducting surveys in the different barangays to synchronize the data of vaccinated individuals in the province of Benguet.
Governor Melchor Diclas said that while the province has recorded an increasing number of vaccinated individuals, there is a need to synchronize data of vaccinated individuals to ensure that the province would be able to vaccinate 70 percent of its target population in order to achieve herd immunity against the COVID-19.
Diclas said the provincial government and the health sector are looking at the possibility of conducting house-to-house mapping in the different barangays to check on who were vaccinated and those whoe were not of the COVID-19 vaccines. This would determine where and when the individuals were vaccinated to possibly synchronize the vaccination data in the province.
More Benguet residents already got inoculated in the different vaccination sites in the provinces as well as in Baguio City as the city government opened its vaccination to residents in the LISTT (La Trinidad – Itogon – Sablan – Tuba and Tublay) areas. The governor noted that most of employers used their places of work as their addresses and there is still a need to gather the data of these individuals and synchronize it with the data of Benguet.
“We are thankful to the city of Baguio for inoculating some of the people of Benguet but we still need to determine who were vaccinated in the City of Baguio or in other areas,” Diclas said. The province still has a low number of recorded vaccinated persons.
Benguet has a total target population of 338,754 to be vaccinated and as of December 27, 2021, the Provincial Health Office recorded 173,511 fully vaccinated individuals or 51.22 percent of the target while 205,504 individuals or 60.66% have been vaccinated with at least one dose.
At least 133,000 individuals still need to be vaccinated in the province to be able to achieve the herd immunity against the COVID-19.
The governor continues to encourage the people of Benguet to avail of the COVID-19 vaccines and get added protection against the COVID-19. He said that the vaccines have been proven to be effective in providing protection from COVID-19. He also encouraged those who are fully vaccinated to get their booster shots from their respective vaccination sites in their localities. **JDP/RMC- PIA-CAR
