BAGUIO CITY September 02 – Job seekers in the city will have the chance to apply for gainful employment locally or abroad during the jobs fair part of the celebration of the 107th Baguio City Charter Day anniversary on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at the Baguio Convention Center.
The annual Charter anniversary jobs fair is part of the month-long activities lined up by the City government as part of the celebration of its Charter Anniversary.
The Public Employment Service Office of the City Mayor’s Office is currently making an inventory of the number of local employment companies and overseas placement firms interested to participate in the jobs fair.
The theme of this year’s 107th Charter Day anniversary is “Fostering Meaningful Change through Synergy and Cooperation.”
Aside from possibly being hired on the spot by prospective employers, job applicants will also be offered free manicure and pedicure, haircut, massage, among other basic services by participating individuals and groups.
Further, PLDT will also be offering free international calls to job seekers wanting to contact their family members and relatives abroad.
The Charter Day jobs fair is organized in cooperation with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), Civil Service Commission (CSC), the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), the Department of Public works and Highways – Baguio City District Engineering Office (DPWH-BCDEO), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Philippine Long Distance Company, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), DPWH-CAR, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
Jose Atanacio, executive assistant at the City Mayor’s Office and incumbent PESO manager, appealed to job seekers to patronize the jobs fair for possible on-the-spot hiring or opportunities for further training for future employment.
The Charter Anniversary jobs fair is one of three jobs fairs being spearheaded by the local government for the whole year along with the Labor Day and Independence Day jobs fairs.
Atanacio urged job seekers to be at the Baguio Convention Center the earliest possible time in proper attire with their credentials and apply for as many jobs as possible that may fit their qualifications.**By Dexter A. See
