Two big ticket projects of the city government under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme were successfully negotiated en route to approval by the City Development Council and the City Council and eventually to a Swiss challenge where other companies can submit offers that match if not exceed the original proposals.
The Market Redevelopment Project by original proponent SM Prime Holdings and the Smart Urban Mobility Project by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation completed the negotiation requirements and were issued certificates of successful negotiation last Sept. 6 and 11, respectively.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the issuance of certificates is part of the PPP process which entails a series of steps which include the conduct of public consultations, submission to the multi-sectoral CDC for confirmation and to the City Council for approval and drawing and adoption of the terms of reference (TOR).
Afterwards, the proposals will be opened to a Swiss Challenge where other private companies will be given the chance to challenge them.
The city government earlier successfully negotiated the Integrated Terminal Project with original proponent Megawide Construction Corporation last June 28, 2024.
The mayor said negotiations other high impact projects are set for completion soon particularly the Asin Hydropower Plants Development and Improvement Project by Repower Energy Development Corporation, the socialized permaculture housing project and the creative center.
Present during the signing of the certificate for the market redevelopment project last Sept. 6 were SM Prime Holdings representatives Rona Vida Correa and Junias Eusebio.
The urban mobility project signing last Sept. 11 was attended by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation officials composed of President and Chief Executive Officer Rogelio Singson, MPT Mobility President Roberto Bontia, MPT Mobility Director Rodrigo Franco and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Mark Richmund De Leon. **Aileen P.
