BAGUIO CITY – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) has urged the public to check their assigned precincts through the online precinct finder which would also confirm whether they are still active voters.
“The precinct finder is the fastest way to verify your registration, precinct number and voting center. This is available to all who have access to the internet,” lawyer Julius Torres, regional director of the Comelec-CAR, said in a message on Thursday.
Comelec has announced that the online precinct finder is already active and the public can access the same to easily find information during the election day.
The public is urged to open https://precinctfinder.comelec.gov.ph/voter_precinct and choose either the “local” or “overseas” voter button.
The basic information one has to input includes the first name, middle name, last name, place of registration —province and city or municipality after which the “search” button would be clicked.
The polling place and precinct number of the person as well as the status —active or not—will be displayed.
Torres said voters may also “visit our local Comelec offices to verify first-hand the status of your registration record.”
He said a voter may be tagged inactive if the name is misspelled, voting record is deactivated for failure to vote twice, or simply because the person is not registered.
“Checking their precincts will avoid inconvenience on election day,” he added.
The Cordillera region has 1,105,063 registered voters and 1,963 clustered precincts in 1,428 voting centers. **Liza Agoot
