The downtrend of dengue fever cases has been sustained since Aug. 22, 2024 up to Sept. 5, 2024, however, the total number of cases remained to be at an all-time high with the death toll now at 15.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said that even if cases are tapering off, public vigilance must continue especially in search and destroy operations to continually weed out mosquito breeding places and in seeking early consultations to prevent deaths.
The Baguio City Health Services Office (CHSO) said that as of Sept. 5, 2024, there are 6,718 cases with 15 deaths including four children aged 1, 4, 6 and 9.
“The impact of dengue is observed across a wide age range but the higher number of deaths were seen among adults (31 to 50 years),” the CHSO reported.
There were more male deaths that female and majority of the deaths occurred from June to August. Two deaths occurred each for Irisan and Camp 7 while the rest were from unique locations.
