CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, March 27 (PIA) – – Twenty eight health facilities in the province are expected to be constructed or improved this year with the approval of P33 million funding from the 2018 Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the Department of Health (DOH).
Dr. Bernadette Andaya, head of the provincial DOH office, said P8M of the approved funds will be used for the purchase of medical equipment, P4M for district hospitals, P2M for all rural heralth units and P2M for barangay health stations.
Andaya reported that construction of three BHS projects funded from 2016 and 2017 HFEP budget were awarded while two are on-going. Also on-going are improvement of Western Kalinga District Hospital costing P2.8M and the Juan Duyan District Hospital costing P4.7 million.
“For 2019, our target is to equip existing facilities so we requested P78.3 million worth of equipment for 4 hospitals, 8 BHS, and 1 RHU,” Andaya said adding that P8.5 million funding was also proposed next year for the renovation of two RHUs and five BHS. **By Peter A. Balocnit
