BAGUIO CITY– The Department of Health Center for Health and Development Cordillera (DOH – CAR) reiterates its call to the people of Mountain Province to strictly adhere to the minimum health standards and safety protocols as COVID – 19 cases in the province continue to surge.
DOH – CAR data shows that Mountain Province has recorded 440 cases in the past seven days, with 171 new cases reported in March 25, the highest cases recorded in a day.
As of March 25 DOH – CAR COVID –19 update, the province has a total of 2,286 confirmed cases, wherein 654 are active cases; 1,599 recoveries and 263 deaths. The province is under high epidemic risk level in terms of Average Daily Attack Rate with an ADAR of 14.52 per 100,000 population.
DOH – CAR Assistant Regional Director Dr. Amelita Pangilinan, in a statement, reiterated to the people of Mountain Province the importance of strictly adhering to the minimum health standards and the BIDA Solusyon Plus or the “Bawal ang walang face mask at face shield, I-sanitize ang kamay at iwasan ang kulob na lugar, Dumistansiya ng isang metro, Alamin ang tamang impormasyon at plus – suportahan ang Food and Drug Administration – approved na bakuna”.
For those who tested positive for COVID – 19, Pangilinan stressed the need to strictly follow quarantine protocols, even those asymptomatic or have mild symptoms, so they can protect their family and the community from further virus transmission.
Pangilinan said that health workers in the province are trying their best to isolate their active COVID cases in the hospitals and Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facilities.
DOH–CAR also held an online meeting with the provincial office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, provincial health office and the rural health units of Bontoc, Sagada and Bauko, the municipalities with most number of cases, to look into their concerns and on what technical assistance they may need.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Health Office reported a 99.90 percent accomplishment in the COVID – 19 vaccination rollout with 1,039 of the 1,040 initial doses of vaccines (Sinovac and AstraZeneca) already vaccinated on eligible health workers in essential frontline services.
