CITY OF TABUK–The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) handed out a P20,000 aid to each ofthe families of the nine Kalinga soldiers who were wounded-in-action (WIA) and one who was killed-in-action in Marawi more than a year ago.
Beneficiaries also of the assistance were families of three persons with disability (PWD) and the family of a child-laborer.
DOLE-Kalinga Head Avelina Manganip said the aid is under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood, Employment and Emergency Program (DILEEP). It is part of government’s intervention to help affected families sustain their livelihood.
Under the program, recipients do not get cash, instead they receive goods and items for their livelihood projects. Beneficiaries who are into hog-raising get piglets and feeds while those planning to start a sari-sari store get grocery goods, Manganip said.
As a program condition, partner-suppliers chosen by beneficiaries must be registered with the PhilGEP.** JDP/LL-PIA
