TAYUM, Abra — A time for merriment and an opportunity to participate and be responsive to societal activities and feel government closer to them. This was what Pantawid families of this town experienced in the recent Pantawid Pamilya celebration.
Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Jennifer Tingday said the celebration was a presentation of the total package of the talents of both the Pantawid parents and children where they had an opportunity to be exposed, discovered and to develop their quality of life.
The celebration with the theme, “Ang pamilyang nagtutulongan, sama-samang tatawid sa kahirapan” (A family that helps together, overcomes poverty), was also a simple way of appreciating the assistance government is giving to the 4Ps or Pantawid ng Pamilyang Pilipino Program through conditional cash transfer.
The Pantawid families from the different barangays first paraded around the Tayum town proper in their colorful shirts. Each barangay bannered its own distinct color for identity.
At the Dr. Luis P. Bersamin Sr. Sports Complex in Brgy. Poblacion, the Search for the Pantawid Exemplary Child and the poster making contest were conducted.
Participated in by children aged 7 to 14 years old, the Search for the Pantawid Exemplary Child was a showcase of the holistic life of the Pantawid children as they displayed their talents, intelligence and academic accomplishments and how they complement these in their community life.
The talent portion was judged based on their presentation on stage while intelligence was judged based on their wits and manner of answering in the question and answer portion of the search. The academic achievements were prepared and submitted by their school advisers who have direct supervision of their performance in school.
The community life of the Pantawid Exemplary children was judged according to how they participate in community activities in their respective barangays.
Princess Joy M. Tuazon of Gaddani National High School won in the search for Pantawid Exemplary Child, and will represent Tayum in the provincial level.
For the poster making contest which was conducted for the first time, Michael Jarred Tamo of An-ana-ao Integrated School emerged the winner.
There was also a contest for the Best Pantawid Communal Garden where the Pito and Bagalay Cluster emerged as winner.
Tingday thanked the staff of the DSWD-Cordillera namely Jen Jersica Pidao, Arnold Domingo and Camia Geronimo who served as board of judges during the search. **JDP/MTBB – PIA CAR, Abra
