May 5, 2023 – Councilor Lilia Farinas has advised the public to ‘not let their guards down just yet’ as she echoed Mayor Benjamin Magalong’s appeal for caution in dealing with the ongoing Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
“Although we are constantly moving toward the ‘New Normal’, be mindful that we are still in the midst of a seemingly silent pandemic, and that new breeds and strains keep on appearing and reappearing. Please be mindful that we should continuously practice health protocols so as to prevent another surge,” she said in Tuesday’s flag-raising rites at City Hall.
On a more positive note, however, Farinas pointed out that “we are so much more hopeful now that we are emerging victorious against the disease. Today, we look forward to newer and better plans for our future and the future of the city we love.”
Earlier, the Mayor encouraged the public to update their Covid-19 booster shots and get their primary shots if still unvaccinated to protect themselves and others.
He made the appeal in light of a report of the City Health Services Office (CHSO) under Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes that there is a gradual increase of Covid cases and deaths in the Summer Capital.
The Mayor also advised the public to religiously wear face masks in crowded indoor settings or avoid crowds altogether and use fist or elbow bumps instead of handshakes.**Gaby B. Keith
