BAGUIO CITY – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST-CAR) has issued an invitation for inventors to join the Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) at the Baguio Convention Center on Nov. 6 to 8.
With the theme “Invention and Innovation for the People,” categories for the competition are: Invention, Tuklas award; Utility design; Industrial research; Creative research; Sibol, High School category; and Sibol, College category.
The deadline for submission of entries is Oct. 20 at the DOST-CAR office, Km. 6, La Trinidad, Benguet or any of the provincial science and technology centers. According to Assistant Regional Director Nancy Bantog, as of Oct. 4, there are 28 entries to the competition.
In a forum last week, Regional Director Victor Mariano announced the celebration of Science and Technology week on Oct. 10 to 14 in Tabuk City, Kalinga. A motorcade precedes the ribbon-cutting, the program and press conference, at the Kalinga astrodome, Tabuk City, during the first day of celebration.
Exhibits, technology fora, information, education campaign and drill for children as to disaster preparedness, forum for food safety, science quiz for elementary and high school students shall be conducted.
Activities for 27 higher educational institutions, line agency participants, and the private sector are being prepared and also the 35 techno bazaars and products at the same venue.
