Theft
On October 3, 2017 at about 4:30 PM, a case of theft which transpired in Midas, Ucab, Itogon, Benguet between 12:00 AM to 5:30 AM of October 3, 2017 was reported to the Itogon MPS-Precinct 3 by Sony Sagamang Ngalawen, 36, married, miner, and resident of the place of incident.
Investigation disclosed that at about 5:30 AM on October 3, 2017, the complainant and his workers discovered that the bath tub filled with ore placed in the gold processing area was stolen by unidentified suspect/s. Ngalawen alerted his friends and visited the nearby barangays to recover the missing ore. At about 4:00 PM of same date, a PUJ driver whose route was Baguio-Ucab informed the complainant that somebody hired him at about 3:00 AM on October 3, 2017 to bring a sack of suspected ore to Virac, Itogon, Benguet. This prompted the complainant and his companions to proceed to Virac and coordinated with the personnel of Precinct 3. The responding PNP personnel with the complainant went to the R & J Partner Trading located in Camp 6, Acupan, Virac, Itogon, Benguet, where a group of men suddenly scampered out to different directions. However, one of the men identified as Dingwas Gappak Edas, 37, single, miner, native of Tinglayan, Kalinga, and resident of Camanggaan, Virac, Itogon, Benguet was arrested. A small sack with marking “LNCI” filled with ore weighing 47 kilograms was recovered and positively identified by the complainant. The arrested suspect was brought to Itogon MPS for documentation and a case of theft was being prepared for filing against him.
Alleged suicide
At about 8:30 AM of October 3, 2017, an employee of Atok District Hospital personally came to the Atok MPS and reported that an alleged suicide victim was brought to Atok District Hospital, Sayangan, Paoay, Atok, Benguet. Immediately, the duty investigator proceeded to the said hospital and came to know that the victim was Jezreel Martinez Sacley, 20, single, grade 12 student of St. Paul’s Academy, and a resident of Sayangan, Paoay, Atok, Benguet.
According to Benny Palasi Sacley, father of the victim, he was cooking their breakfast in the kitchen at about 6:30 AM of October 3, 2017 when he saw his son Jezreel come down from his room. He did not notice what his son did because he was busy cooking. He then saw his son go up to the attic of their house. At about 6:45 AM of the same date, he went to the room of his son to call him to eat. When he opened the door, he saw him hanging on a fan belt tied around his neck and shouted for help then he lost consciousness. His two other sons, Jeezer Sacley and Elizer Sacley, who were in the same house heard the shout of their father. They went to the room of their brother, saw Jezreel hanging, and immediately brought him down and rushed him to the hospital. The attending physician declared the victim who was with fixed dilated pupil and a ligature mark on his neck, dead on arrival at about 7:20 AM of October 3, 2017. The parents refused the conduct of an autopsy. A suicide note of the victim, validated by his family members, was found at the place of incident.
Theft
At about 3:15 PM of September 30, 2017, personnel of Tanudan MPS arrested the following suspects for selling stolen crude oil at Bawac, Dupligan, Tanudan, Kalinga:
a. Roberto Melchor Ayap, 41, married, a resident of Cabaritan, Tabuk City, Kalinga;
b. Johnson Palangdao Nawi, 34, married, a resident of Bantay, Tabuk City, Kalinga;
c. Joel Esteban Felix, 34, married, a resident of Bado dangwa, Tabuk City, Kalinga; and
d. Robert Awingan Asboc, 63, a native of Balinsiagao, Pasil, Kalinga.
Investigation revealed that the suspects were drivers of Omengan Construction and Development Corporation (OCDC). Allegedly, the crude oil were siphoned from the tanks of the dump trucks owned by the OCDC. Nineteen gallons of crude oil with an estimated value of more than Php17,360.00 were bought from the suspects and were loaded on a white pick-up truck with plate number 345, driven by Jornal Tao Mang-eg, 32, and a resident of San Francisco, Tabuk City, Kalinga. Suspects and the confiscated items were brought to Tanudan MPS for documentation and filing of cases.
Robbery
At about 8:30 PM of September 30, 2017, personnel of Tabuk CPS responded to a resported robbery that transpired at Brgy, Polacion Dagupan West, Tabuk City, Kalinga, particularly, inside Falgui’s residence.
Initial investigation disclosed that while the owner of the house identified as Danilo Collado Falgui, 53, married, engineer was feeding their dog when a group of seven malefactors armed with different short firearms and masked appeared. The suspects declared the heist and ordered him to enter the house. All the occupants were hogtied with packaging tape and thereafter, the suspects searched all the rooms and took the following items:
a. Two (2) laptops;
b. Two (2) Samsung cellphones;
c. One(1) belt bag containing ATM cards, two (2) car keys, a PRC license, Php3,000.00;
d. Shoulder bag containing two ATM cards, jewelries, licensed firearm Glock 19 9mm with serial number KCX608.
The suspects then fled towards Balong-Dagupan, through the provincial road. A hot pursuit is still in progress.
Cadavers
On October 3, 2017 at about 6:30 AM, Pidigan PS received a cell phone call from Rebecca Viernes Bandolin, resident of Barangay Alinaya Pidigan, Abra informing them that there were cadavers found inside a small bungalow house beside the farm-to-market road in Barangay Naguirayan, Pidigan, Abra.
Initial investigation by Pidigan PS disclosed that the victims were; Jomar Porte Cabutaje, 26, married, college level and Jayveemar Porte Cabutaje, 21, single, college level, both residents of Alinaya, Pidigan, and both sustained multiple gunshot wounds on their heads; and Mike Carlos Corbi Turqueza, aka Allot, 33 years old, farmer, married, high school undergraduate and a resident of Barangay Cosili West, Bangued, Abra, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds on his body. The three victims were believed to be sleeping when shot, causing their instantaneous death. Investigation is still ongoing.**
