LA TRINIDAD, Benguet– Department of Tourism Cordillera Regional Director Venus Tan affirms support for the tourism development of this capital town as it gears up for the staging of its 36th Strawberry Festival.
Tan informed that the festival which for this year adopts the theme, “Sustaining the Fruits of La Trinidad’s Agro-eco Tourism”, is already included in the tourism promotion calendar of DOT, including promotion on its website and social media accounts.
Tan reported that DOT has initiated the REV-BLOOM project being implemented in the region which includes the conversion of STOBOSA (barangays Stone Hill, Botiwtiw and Sadjap along kilometer 3) into a gigantic artistic mural for La Trinidad.
DOT is also working on the tourism development plan for La Trinidad which aside from strawberry, include the coffee and cut flower industries of the municipality that will soon be presented to the local officials and the public for consultation. Tan said there are already investors that signified their willingness to invest in various businesses in La Trinidad.
“Tourism means jobs, the more investors that will invest means more job generation”, she added.
Tan joined Mayor Romeo Salda and Benguet State University President Feliciano Calora Jr. in launching the scheduled activities for Strawberry Festival 2017 at the Strawberry Fields here, Wednesday.
The festival will run up to March 31 with the highlight set for March 18 and 19, with cultural rites, foundation day program, civic parade, street dance/drum & lyre parade and mini-floats parade. **Wesley Hortizuela – PIA CAR/UCU intern
