Easter Sunday’s significance is the resurrection and ascension. From death, Jesus was resurrected, and then ascended. It was death and rebirth. This happens on spring, when new sprouts emerge, a new beginning. As fresh as the nice smell of the environment becoming green.
We are going through the process of death and rebirth every time. By the process, we improve or our situation becomes better. Though it might not be apparent at the time or during the process which is often accompanied by pain. Well, death, we guess, always involves some pain. Even people who take it as a way out of pain or out of being miserable are often depicted in pain, with contorted faces, determinedly closed eyes, as they pull the trigger of a gun pointed inside their mouth or to their temple.
Jesus Christ had to go through a lot of suffering that resulted in His death. Then the ascension or the ultimate progress.
In our worldly conditions, death can occur in a relationship with a loved one. The relationship dies due to an intense quarrel—more so if the couple involved had been married for several decades only for it to end because the husband suddenly met a knockout of a woman who is much younger—with all the attributes being young connotes. The relationship dies. The family as once known by the husband and wife or the kids once knew it dies. A new world begins. The kids, no matter how painful it was, end up being more mature and responsible. Of course, some suffer psychological breakdowns, others recover from it and have to deal with deep psychological scars all their lives. If looked at objectively, however, the episode could have resulted in a lot more positive ways if those involved were more stronger and devoted their time achieving or finding the silver lining.
Near death experiences is of the same process. A person who goes through it whether due to sickness or accident often becomes a better person.
On a less emotional side, our careers also can die only for something new to be given birth. It is often called, career change or shift. While it often happens during the critical stages of life such as when one is going through the midlife crisis (usually at age 39 to 41) or during the Saturn Return at age 28 to 31. For others, it could happen at any other time.
The result is often a better career or freedom from old dogma or any very stringent situation as when one had to please the boss every time. This can mean a better job somewhere or being on one’s own as when putting up one’s own business.
At age 28 to 31, the death and rebirth here often means becoming more mature or being weaned from dependency.
So the egg on Easter Sunday is not just an egg. It symbolizes the promise of a new beginning. What you do with that promise is, of course, your own business.**
