While other students are back in classes, some of us have only started to see what it was like to be on the other side. Since not all follow the same schedules, especially universities, the burden of traffic within the city is not at its full potential. Students have returned to their home provinces and to munch on much needed home cooked meals.
It is a strange adjustment from having to be alert for weeks straight to waking up in the middle of the day and realizing you are not late and don’t need to travel early in the morning with a weary heart. Short as vacations are for college students compared to the younger ones, you quickly learn to take all that you can, even if you feel you deserve a longer time at home. The thirst for rest of the weary is simply too great that the energy to complain is not there.
The adjustment from a hectic schedule to a calm one may be strange, but a more than welcome one. Familial faces that have become near strangers due to the time spent at school return to their places around everyday sights.
Almost all would like a longer vacation, but we don’t always get what we want, unfortunately. Now is the time to make the most of what we are given and build upon that. We can begrudgingly accept the few days off work, but we won’t be too happy with it.
Thankfully there is a lot of enjoyment to be done even for a short amount of time. The meaning of enjoyment may differ drastically for lots of people. Some people find enjoyment in staying at home, having been to the city too much and grew sick of the smoky smell. Others find enjoyment outside their walls and going to wherever as long as its far from school or work.
The time to build ourselves back again is far and few in our hectic world. That makes more valuable the late breakfasts and dinnertime long into the nights with family. We can enjoy more the gold in front of us when our mind is not worrying about the prospects of tomorrow.
Reflection is easier too when peace and quiet finally drive away all the nagging of our everyday duties. Like rulers after a war, there are things to rebuild and recover. Pressure makes diamonds but we also need the peaceful moments to realize we are just that, diamonds. Acknowledging all our accomplishments is a beautiful experience.
There is growth even in the quiet moments. It is the time to once again think and contemplate, to wipe the diamond repeatedly in order to shine even brighter in the future.
