LAGAWE, IFUGAO – – The Provincial Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources Office (PAENRO) unveiled recently a timely jobs generation rollout plan that should ease the unemployment problem in Ifugao.
Domingo Mariano, PAENRO head, said a forum on enterprise and livelihood will also help the province exponentially grow. It is scheduled on November 18 in Lagawe at the Atrium of the provincial capitol building.
It will do so with a two-day pre-Christmas product fair at the same venue. One can say, it is unique because it is hard to find such elsewhere given the prevailing conditions, yet allowing folks to somehow feel the distinctive air of the season.
“The Department of Trade and Industry is proud to support this endeavor, and help PAENRO bring its vision to reality,” DTI provincial director Valentin Baguidudol, also a speaker, said in an exclusive interview with the ZigZag Week
The theme is “Strengthening partnership and resiliency towards a sustainable livelihood amidst the pandemic.”
Keynote speakers will be Governor Jerry Dalipog, Vice Governor Glenn Prudenciano and Board Member Noli Maguiwe who is the board’s chairman of the committee on agriculture. For sure, insights of provincial agriculturist Mariano during the program will form part of the core of the attempt to present the stresses, strains and realities of the daily life of a farmer.
All four are well-known and distinguished figures in the province, but the spotlight will be on the provincial agriculturist since Ifugao’s economy is very dependent on agriculture. Ably assisting the hardworking PAENRO chief is Cecilia Guiniling, enterprise development program coordinator of the office.
“We are delighted at having forged a partnership with the DTI, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Agriculture Fishery Council and the Agricultural Credit Policy Council to have a common goal of ensuring the development of agriculture in the province,” Mariano told the ZigZag Weekly.
Not only that PAENRO has a track record of making a positive contribution to the province’s economy. It also had yielded a bountiful harvest for PAENRO in the form of awards from prestige-laden competitions sponsored by the Department of Agriculture.** By Anthony A. Araos
