LAGAWE, Ifugao, Dec. 28 (PIA)– More than 50 individuals were served by the Lagawe municipal police station (MPS) in an outreach activity held at the Ayangan National Agricultural and Vocational High School (ANAVHS) of barangay Ponghal here.
Lagawe MPS chief Lt. Jackson Nginhena said the activity was intended to bring the services of the Philippine National Police nearer to the community particularly in far flung barangays for the people to feel that the government is doing something to address some of their needs.
Activities conducted included information campaign on family values and management, prevention of rape incidents, climate change and girl scouting; proper hand washing, feeding of children, distribution of assorted Christmas gifts to selected couples, and tree planting.
“We want also that our brothers and sisters here in “Ayangan” to know that police officers are ready and willing to work with them in the implementation of local and national laws for a peaceful and prosperous community,” he added.
The outreach was in partnership with the AVANHS troop leader Ayeza Guinid who facilitated the presence of the beneficiaries and other attendees from the various sitios of said barangay.
Nginhena thanked government and private individuals who supported their first Christmas outreach activity by donating their resources for the success of the endeavor.
Punong Barangay Victor Pun-aduan commended the Lagawe MPS and its partner agencies for selecting their barangay as the host or venue of the outreach program that benefited some of the residents.
Cristy Hanggoy and Romeo Punnog, residents of Ponghal , also appreciated the efforts of the police and other agencies in extending their activity to their barangay. “We are thankful because we learned a lot on how to manage our family properly and also on girlscouting,” they said.
Councilor Marlon Bandao enjoined the barangay folks to support also the programs and services of the municipal government for a better delivery of services to the different barangays. He also stressed the value of girl scouting in molding the personality of a woman and empowering them to be assets of the society.
“I am hoping and praying that you will not give-up but do your best to educate every young girl in this barangay. You are all a God given instrument to be a leader to everyone and to the coming generation,” Bandao said. **JDP/MBL, PIA CAR, Ifugao
