ITOGON, Benguet, Dec. 22 (PIA) – – Recognition of the community efforts in sprucing, cleaning and clearing of roadways and surroundings through colorful and vibrant mural and street painting and landscaping highlighted this town’s founding anniversary celebration.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the municipal local government unit launched the Search for Best Implementer on Clean and Green Program. The different communities poured out their time, talent and treasure in sprucing up, cleaning and clearing the roadways, fences and surroundings turning these into beautiful images.
Awarded last December 11 as the best Implementer on clean and green programs for urban barangay category is Ucab which received a cash prize of P60,000cash. Tuding came in second while Poblacion was third with cash prizes of P40,000 and P30,000, respectively.
Barangays Virac, Ampucao and Loacan received consolation prizes of P10,000 each.
For the rural barangay category, Dalupirip was adjudged the winner with a cash prize of P60,000, second was Gumatdang with a P40,000 cash prize and third prize was Tinongdan with a P30,000 cash prize.
For the best in landscaping and roadside beautification, barangays Ucab, Tuding and Poblacion again topped the category earning them the cash prizes of P60,000; P50,000 and P40,000, respectively.
Brgys. Ampucao, Dalupirip, Gumatdang, Loacan, Tinongdan, and Virac got consolation prizes of P20,000 each
Barangay Gumatdang was recognized as the best implementer of an ordinance on stray animals and received a P15,000 cash prize while barangay Tuding was the best implementer of the Department of Interior and Local Government road clearing program with a cash incentive of P15,000.
With the community helping together, the output came out well pleasing to the eyes while passing along the array of artworks including the patching up of vandalized waiting sheds, Mayor Victorio Palangdan said.
