CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, May 11 (PIA) – The two engineering districts of this province resumed implementation of all Build-Build-Build projects with the province now under general community quarantine.
District Engineer Eugene Batalao of Kalinga Upper District Engineering District Office said they resumed implementation on May 4 on priority projects covering roads, bridges and flood control.
Implementation of DPWH projects were temporarily suspended during the enhanced community quarantine.
Batalao said they have 43 projects this year with total funding cost of Php2.265 billion including their regular fund. He said P177M was already released.
The Lower Kalinga District Engineering Office (LKDEO) also resumed construction work today, May 11.
Chief of Construction Section Engr. Liberato Agrimor Jr. said they resumed work on more than 40 awarded projects. LKDEO has more than 80 approved projects for 2020.
He said they have Php1.1 billion regular fund where P600M was already released. The district has also additional funds allotted from other sources, Agrimor said.
Both engineers said they are complying with construction safety guidelines.
DPWH Secretary Mark Villar earlier said that private and public construction projects will be allowed to resume during the GCQ but will have to comply with the construction safety guidelines prescribed for the implementation of infrastructure projects during the COVID-19 crisis. **JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga
