CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga– For the fifth time in a row, the province of Kalinga is conferred the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
DILG Cordillera Regional Director Marlo Iringan said Kalinga is among the 27 provinces throughout the country that passed the search.
The Seal of Good Local Governance, also known as ‘Pagkilala sa Katapatan at Kahusayan ng Pamahalaang Lokal,’ is awarded by the DILG to deserving provinces, cities and municipalities that perform well in various fields such as peace and order, environmental management, business-friendliness, and competitiveness. The annual search also pushes DILG’s local governance theme– “Matino, Mahusay at Maasahan“.
“The province passed the mandatory requirements on financial administration, social protection, disaster preparedness, peace and order. It also made good in three essential areas on tourism development, environmental protection and is a business-friendly province”, Mayer Max Adong, OIC provincial DILG director said.
LGU-recipients of the award are also entitled to a package of incentives such as the Performance Challenge Fund and access to other national performance-based programs.
This year DILG has earmarked P1 billion for the PCF to be shared by the more than 400 LGUs which passed the search. **PIA Kalinga
