Prior to the confiscation, the operatives established a checkpoint when they flagged down a red Isuzu crosswind with plate No XEL-162 driven by the suspect identified as Mark Justin Jemilla Dayrit, 22, and his companion Bob Bruce Dionisio Jr., 21, both single and residents of Sitio Dau, Barangay Mabalacat, Pampanga
During the visual inspection, the operatives saw a Marijuana brick protruding at the backrest of the front passenger seat prompting them to ask the occupants to open their bags.
As a result, a total of six Marijuana bricks weighing more or less 6.11 Kilograms were confiscated.
Inventory was made at Bontoc Municipal Police Station in the presence of Barangay Kagawad Joseph T. Damayan of Baranagay Caluttit, media representative Apollo Padaen and IBP Representative Atty. Shayga Sangayab.
Seized items were brought to the PNP Crime Laboratory Office, Police Regional Office-Cordillera for qualitative examination while an appropriate case was filed against the suspects in violation of RA 9165 as amended by RA 10640 at the provincial prosecutor. It was referred to the provincial prosecutor at around 4 pm of October 21, 2017.
Police Senior Inspector Bernard Wong of the Mountain Province Police Provincial Office-PCR branch disclosed in an interviews on October 23 said “Upon verification ng mga kasama nating nagche-checkpoint through visual sa loob ng sasakyan, may nakita sliang protruding na Marijuana brick then prompted our personnel natin requested the two occupants to open their bags and when they opened their bags, the checkpoint personnel discovered another five Marijuana bricks.”
The qualitative examination on the seized contraband showed positive contents of Marijuana, a dangerous drug and the used vehicle was impounded at the provincial headquarters at Camp Montes, Bontoc with the two suspects now detained at Mountain Province District Jail in Bontoc according to Wong.
