BAGUIO CITY– This year’s search for the best performing barangays, now the mother of all searches on barangay based programs in Baguio is on.
The city government here spearheaded by the Special Services Division, being the administrative arm of the City Mayor’s Office together with other partner agencies will start its assessment and evaluation of the different barangays in the city on January 23 until March.
The assessment schedule for the Lupon Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards (LTIA) are as follows: Jan 23- Gabriela Silang, Hillside Lower and Upper Dagsian, Cabinet Hill-Teacher’s Camp and St. Joseph Village; Jan 24- Imelda Village, Gibraltar, Mines View, Pucsusan, Scout Barrio and Greenwater Village; Jan, 25- Sta. Escolastica, Marcoville, Engineer’s Hill, Balsigan, BGH, and Phil-Am Compound; Jan. 26- Lower Quirino Hill, Upper Rock Quarry, Sto. Rosario Valley, Ferdinand, Imelda Marcos and Burnham-Legarda; Jan. 27- City Camp Central, City Camp Proper, Upper Q.M., Lower and Middle Rock Quarry and Palma-Urbano; Jan. 30- Fairview, Andres Bonifacio, Pinget, GEFA Lower Q.M., Kayang Extension and MRR Queen of Peace; Jan. 31- Sto. Tomas Proper, Middle Quirino Hill, Pinsao Proper, Pinsao Pilot Project, Guisand Central and Guisad Surong, Feb. 1- Upper Market, Happy Homes Old Lucban, Dizon Subdivision Slaughter Compound, Lower Magsaysay and Camp Allen, Feb. 2- Irisan, Padre Zamora, Padro Burgos, and East Quirino Hill; Feb. 16- ABCR, New Lucban, T. The performance of the barangays will be evaluated as to their mandate under existing laws such as barangay administration and governance; social services; health, nutrition and sanitation; environmental management, peace and order; public safety; and competitive edge.
The assessment team is headed by community affairs officer Noel Mabutas together with representatives from Department of Interior and Local Government, Liga ng mga Barangay, Baguio City Police Officer, Prosecutor’s Office, Baguio Fire Department, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, City Mayor’s Office, Permits and Licensing Division, City Budget Office, City Planning and Development Office, City Social Welfare Office, Health Service Office, City Environment and Parks Management Office, General Services Office, Department of Education, and non-government organizations.
Unlike in previous years, the different searches on the barangay based programs of the different departments and agencies, both local and national such as Lupon Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards, Best Barangay Peace and Order Council, Best Implemented Nutrition Action Plan, barangay nutrition scholar, barangay nutrition action officer, Best Barangay Sanitation, Child Friendly Barangay, senior and people with disability, Best Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, clean and green, among others are now integrated into one search dubbed as the Search for Best Performing Barangay as the mother of all searches.
The over-all champion of this year’s search will be receiving three hundred thousand cash incentive. The first runner up will receive two hundred thousand cash incentive, third runner up will receive one hundred thousand cash incentive while nine special awards will also be given to deserving barangays and will be receiving P50,000 cash incentive each.**Jho Arranz
