BONTOC – The province will take a shot at being “creative” in compliance with Republic Act 11904 or the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act (PCIDA) after a meeting was conducted at the Bayle Hometel, Sac-angan, Caluttit last August 19, 2025 to prepare for the celebration of the Philippine Creative Industries Month in September 2025.
The meeting was coordinated by the provincial government through the Provincial Culture and the Arts Office as mandated by the Department of the Interior and Local Governments (DILG).
The celebration aims to showcase the creative goods, products, and services of the province’s creative industries and strengthen the capacities of the creative industry players which include creative firms, artists, artisans, indigenous communities, and other creative stakeholders, referred to as the creative industry sector.
Md. Sesvir Lopez from the provincial field office of the DILG, oriented the participants on the law, its nature and characteristics citing that “We have been practicing what we do but we do not know that it is referred to as“creative”.
Ms. Abrella Dangla from the DTI provincial office talked about the nitty-gritty of the industry being referred to as “creative industry”.
Both of the speakers talked about the creative knowledge and research, creative trade and business, creative performance and live production, creative exhibition and showcase, and creative challenge and campaign. Each domain has the actual works and roles being done by the organizations or stakeholders.
“All the local government units with the assistance from the Local Culture and the Arts Council are encouraged to extend full support and through organizing activities which are aligned with the celebration pillars”, stated the memorandum from the DILG.
It was agreed during the meeting with identified artisan individuals.**Roger Sacyaten
