Bontoc, Mountain Province – Forty Ifontok residents and residents of other municipalities of Mountain Province who registered were accommodated in Bontoc’s Oplan Suma-ar (NCR Edition).
Of the total, 31 are from Bontoc, Sagada -one, Sabangan – two, Paracelis – one, Sadanga -one, Tadian – one , and Bauko- three.
They were fetched and ferried evening of June 18, 2020, aboard two buses of the Coda Lines Transportation and arrived in this capital town early morning of June 19, 2020.
They were escorted and assisted by the Bontoc LGU Team from the meet-up point in Quezon City up to Bontoc.
Upon arrival, they were triaged at the basement of the Bontoc Municipal Capitol, and were administered with rapid tests by personnel of the Municipal Health Office.
As agreed during the last meeting of the Bontoc Municipal Inter Agency Task Force, pregnant women, those with comorbidities, and senior citizens who were considered as high risk were swabbed.
After the rapid tests, they were escorted and assisted by the Bontoc Municipal Police Station (MPS) to the LGU – Quarantine Facilities where they will be quarantined for 14 days. The Bontoc LGU hired two hotels in Bontoc to serve as quarantine facilities.
Municipal Health Officer Dr. Diga Kay Gomez said that aside from the rapid tests, all the LSIs were subjected to swab tests on the 8th to 11th day of their quarantine period.
The locally stranded individuals (LSIs) who availed of the Oplan Suma-ar (NCR Edition) were stranded in the NCR and its nearby provinces and cities since the entire Luzon was locked down March 16, 2020 until the transition of various areas to General Community Quarantine and Modified General Community Quarantine.
Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey extended his warm welcome to all the LSIs as they arrived home.
He solicited their cooperation in complying with the LGU protocols and health standards during their mandatory 14-day quarantine period.
The mayor likewise extends his gratitude to the Office of the Congressman – Mountain Province through Congressman Maximo Y. Dalog, Jr., Provincial Government of Mountain Province through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office headed by PDRRM Officer Edward Chumawar, Jr., and Provincial Health Office (PHO) to include Provincial Health Officer I Carolyn Yawan and Provincial Epidemiology Surveilance Officer Lily Ann Safilo, Bontoc MPS, Bontoc Municipal Fire Station, and Coda Lines Transportation management, drivers, conductors and staff.
Also, the mayor thanked Ma’am Dione Selly Chaokas for coordinating the transportation of the LSIs from their barangay points of origin to the meet-up point, and Atty. Pio Daos who volunteered his time and his vehicle to fetch and ferry the LSIs to the meet-up point.
Further, Odsey commended the selfless service of the frontliners of Bontoc.
