BONTOC, Mtn. Province – Elements of the police from various municipalities converged with pastors of small churches around the province in an effort to bring about spiritual growth and renewal within the police organization and the communities.
Last Friday, May 26, 2023, KASIMBAYANAN and BIDA Fellowship sa Probinsya had taken place at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol here with the theme: “Intimacy in the Service” attended by more than 100 invited police personnel and pastors.
KASIMBAYANAN and BIDA are programs of the Department of the Interior and Local Governments (DILG) that stand for Kapulisan, Simbahan, at Pamayanan, while BIDA is an acronym of Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan.
Both programs cater to bring righteous governance in communities with the introduction of transformation in people, in the way they conduct themselves with spiritual strengthening and guidance.
The latter is more specific as it targets healthy living sans drugs for everyone. It is an anti-drug movement that cascades to the barangays.
According to PLt. Peter Apangcay, Provincial leader of the police movement, their office had been conducting activities for the attainment of the goals and objectives of KASIMBAYANAN and BIDA in various fora.
PLtCol. Jimmy Macues delivered the welcome remarks while PCol. Sibly Dawiguey, Jr., the Provincial Director of the Mountain Province Provincial Police Office (MPPPO), gave a message.
Atty. Marrieth Garcia, the MPPPO Provincial Legal Officer lectured on Republic Act 9165 that provides for importation of Dangerous Drugs and/or Controlled Precursors and Essential Chemicals during the event.
While, Atty. Agosto Libang, Provincial NAPOLCOM Officer, talked on (CSOP) Community and Service-Oriented Policing or the system for the promotion of peace and order and public safety and the strengthening of local government capability aimed towards the effective delivery of basic services to the citizenry.
PMSG Paul Sullad, PCADU Chief Clerk, presented the drug surrenderers of the province per municipality.
PLt. Apangcay was appreciative for those who attended as the event was successful with the active participation of everyone.
MEANWHILE, another organization referred to as LENG-AG, an acronym for Lifting Everyone, Nurturing the faith, Guiding souls Altruistically to God, and otherwise known as the Mountain Province Ecumenical Ministers Association, is partnering with the government to advance the thrust of good governance and ecumenism.
LENG-AG is a religious organization composed of priests, pastors, and lay from the different churches in the province. It was born from the initiative of the DILG – Mountain Province and supported by the provincial government.
Fr. Marcial “Marcs” Castañeda, the president of the organization, said that the group has been meeting often and has recently assisted in the conduct of the seminar for Spiritual Wellness for Senior Citizens of the province sponsored by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development office. **Roger Sacyaten
