P.5-M worth of shabu seized in Baguio
Three drug personalities were arrested in a sting operation by anti-narcotics agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera together with the Baguio City Police Office Drug Enforcement Unit and BCPO Station 9 at Purok 7, Asin Road, Irisan, Baguio City yesterday afternoon.
Brian Leonille Valdes Dris, alias Tisoy Junel, 30 years old, online seller, ESL teacher, and a resident of Asin Road, Baguio City was collared together with Aaron Paul de Guzman Vergara 26 years old, alias Nikko, resident of BGH Compound, Baguio City and a 23-year old woman who is a resident of Asin Road, Baguio City.
They were cuffed when Dris sold a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu to an undercover agent in his rented apartment. Upon his arrest, the drug enforcers chanced upon Vergara and the woman having a pot session.
Seized from the suspects during the operation, aside from the dangerous drug sold by Dris, were two more heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected dried marijuana leaves, several drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money.
The confiscated shabu weighing more or less 105 grams is the biggest haul for this year in Baguio City. With their arrest, the drug enforcers were able to negate Php 525,000.00 worth of shabu that could have been distributed in the city.
It could also be recalled that Vergara, who is out on bail, has a pending case for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act Number 9165, otherwise known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002”.
The suspects, who are temporarily detained at the PDEA-CAR detention facility, will be facing cases for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 11, Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia) and Section 15 (Use of Dangerous Drugs) of R.A. 9165.
Reckless imprudence resulting in homicide
On August 21, 2017 at about 8:13 AM, personnel of Mankayan MPS responded to a reported vehicular accident that transpired along Mankayan-Abatan National Road, Poblacion, Mankayan, Benguet involving a gray/pink Close Van bearing plate number ABK 4414 driven by Ryan Brent Silipen Camba, 21 years old, single, and a resident of Otocan Norte, Bauko, Mtn. Province.
Investigation disclosed that at about 8:05 AM that the said van accidentally moved backwards while traversing the said road and ran over a male minor identified as Jever Colse Sayud a.k.a. Senly, 8 years old, grade IV pupil, and a resident of Payeo, Bedbed, Mankayan, Benguet which resulted in his death. Accordingly, the driver saw the victim at the right side mirror running down the road but did not notice how the victim was hit. The victim was rushed by the driver/suspect at the RHU Infirmary Clinic in Poblacion, Mankayan, Benguet but was pronounced Dead on Arrival by the attending Physician, Dr. Fabiola R. Gabriel. The suspect is unharmed and under the custody of Mankayan MPS. The vehicle is impounded at the police station. Documentation is being completed and the case is being prepared for filing.
VTA resulting in homicide
On August 21, 2017 at around 8:00 PM, a head-on collision transpired in Nan-agto, Natubleng Buguias Benguet wherein a Honda motorcycle with plate number MS 1168 driven by Norbert Sad-o Lazona, 18 years old, single with two (2) back riders identified as Cliff Betweng Walsie, 15 years old, and Rocky Hill Apasao, 19 years old, all residents of Calasipan Atok, Benguet collided with a white dump truck driven by Marco Pad-eng Kino-an, 47, married, resident of Palina, Taloy Sur Tuba, Benguet.
The driver of the motorcycle and two (2) back riders were rushed to Atok District Hospital by concerned citizens and responding policemen but Norbert Lazona and Cliff Walsie were declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, Dr. Joseph Giovanni Frias, while Apasao was referred to Benguet General Hospital for further treatment and observation. The motorcycle incurred heavy damage while the dump truck incurred minor damage. The driver/suspect and his driven truck is under the custody of Buguias MPS for documentation. The case is being prepared for filing.
