ROCOR arrests 12 drug personalities
CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Following the return of the Philippine National Police to the government’s campaign against illegal drugs, PROCOR initiated 8 operations where 12 suspected drug personalities were arrested from January 1 to 29, 2018.
Recently, Roderick. B. Afroilan, 24, a resident of Poblacion, Penarrubia, Abra was arrested in a buy-bust operation in the night of January 29, 2018 at Brgy. Riang, Penarrubia, Abra. As a result, two sachets of shabu were confiscated from him.
In another operation, a suspect identified as Allan Luisito Santos, 25, tricycle driver and resident of Brgy. Santa Rosa, Bangued Abra was arrested after a concerned citizen reported to the police that there is an ongoing transaction of shabu at Brgy. Dangdangla, Bangued, Abra in the afternoon of January 28, 2018.
As a result, one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and three rolled unused aluminum foil was confiscated from his possession. The arrest was witnessed by the Brgy. Officials, media and PDEA-Abra. 10 others were arrested in different operations.
In its bid to eradicate marijuana plantations, 300 fully grown marijuana plants planted in a land area of about 100 square meters at the creek boundary of Kibungan particularly at Lower Bana, Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet were wiped out in the afternoon of January 26, 2018.
The marijuana plants with an estimated Dangerous Drug Board value of Php60,000.00 was burned on site while only a few plants were brought “home’ by the combined elements of Benguet Provincial Maneuver Force Company (PMFC), Bakun, Tuba and Kibungan MPS for evidentiary purposes.
The marijuana plants and arrested suspects together with the confiscated items are now under the custody of the concerned operating units for documentation and for inquest proceedings.
Shooting Incident
Please be informed that on February 1, 2018 at about 7:40 PM, Bangued MPS received a report regarding a shooting incident that transpired along Barikir, Zone 5, Bangued, Abra particularly beside 5J’s Wagwagan owned by the victim identified as Veronica Cabañero Leones, 60 years old, separated, businesswoman, and presently residing at Sitio Bliss, Brgy. Angad, Bangued, Abra.
Initial investigation disclosed that at about 7:15 PM of same date, the victim together with her daughter Jackie Leones and her granddaughter Geniva Melody Leones, were fixing things at the back of her red Toyota Innova with plate no. AEA 7232 when motorcycle riding suspects approached her and with no apparent reason shot the victim once on her face then immediately fled towards Sinalang bridge. The victim was rushed to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment while the suspects were subject for manhunt operation. Firearm used is believed to be a caliber .45 as evidenced by fired cartridge for the same caliber recovered at the crime scene by SOCO personnel led by PSI Calixto. Possible motive is land dispute Investigation is still ongoing and Progress report to follow.
Structural fire resulting in death
A structural fire resulting in death happened at about 12:10 AM of January 29, 2018 at Sitio Tinmayon, Antadao, Sagada, Mtn. Province, wherein a residential house made of light materials (pine lumber and GI sheets) was razed resulting in the death of the lone occupant, Catherine Pokling Dagdagen, 75 y/o, single, retired teacher resulting in her instant death. Origin of the fire and cost of damage have yet to be determined as of this writing. Personnel of Sagada MPS, BFP Sagada, BFP Besao immediately responded after a distress call was received at around 1:00 AM of January 29, 2018. The victim’s remains were at the house of her neighbor as of this writing.
RIR in Physical Injuries (Hit and Run)
Please be informed that on February 1, 2018 at about 10:40 PM, a case of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Physical Injuries (Hit and Run) transpired along Kennon Road at Camp 4, Tuba, Benguet. The victims were identified as Mark Apollo Narvaez Quan, 31 years old, married, resident of Bengao Road, Bakakeng Central, Baguio City and Catalino Garcia Vergara, 58 years old, married and resident of Kadaklan Village, Loakan Apugan, Baguio City.
Initial Investigation showed that the victims were repairing their vehicle at the side of the Baguio bound lane particularly at Camp 4, Kennon Road, Tuba, Benguet when a speeding Pajero with silver stripe lining on its bumper bumped them then sped off towards Baguio City leaving behind the victims at the place of incident.
The victims sustained Less Serious Injuries and they were brought to the Baguio General Hospital for medical treatment. Case is under follow-up investigation.**
