Alleged extortion/estafa
At around 5:00 PM of March 24, 2018, Angelito Bertoldo Legaspi, 36 of Palma Street, Parang, Marikina City, Marjun Flores Samonte, 28 from Barangay Waya, Tanay, Rizal, Roldan Bautista Tirados, 28 of Penpeña, Tanay Rizal and Edgar Peñada Alcantara, 21 Barangay Wawa, Tanay, Rizal were arrested at Lake Drive,Burnham Park, Baguio City on the complaint of Lemish Tarona Mohd Sayegh, 29, native of Bangued, Abra, and presently residing at 56 Upper Kitma, Baguio City.
Initial investigation disclosed that the suspects deceived the victim by allegedly collecting money from her for an alleged double your money investment. They initially collected cash and i-phones from the victim amounting to more or less Php1,200,000.00. The suspects then later told the victim that she already had a total cash investments including the principal amounting to Php7,000,000.00. When the victim told them that she is withdrawing her money, the suspects told her that they cannot give her money unless she will pay the amount of Php200,000.00 as allegedly directed by their employer, the son of Lucio Tan. They then told her to meet them at Ganza Restaurant prompting the victim to report it to the police and an entrapment operation was conducted that resulted in the arrest of the suspects, and the recovery of the marked money amounting to Php4,000.00 from their possession. The case is for inquest proceeding.
Theft (shoplifting)
On or about 5:05 PM of March 23, 2018 within the premises of SM Baguio, Luneta Hill, Baguio City, witness Rechelle Rolino Gacayan, Civilian Guard under Raya Security Agency, single, 22 years old, with address at Km. 3, La Trinidad, Benguet, apprehended a male suspect identified as Pedro Nacionales Go Jr., 58 y/o, with city address at No. 182 Crystal Cave Subdivision, Baguio City for stealing grocery items worth Php3,746.50.
Investigation disclosed that witness Gacayan was roving when she noticed the suspect acting suspiciously. The suspect took some grocery items and did not pay for these. Thus, he was approached and invited at the CRS Office. The unpaid grocery items were recovered from his bag without proof of purchase. Afterwards, the suspect was escorted to precinct 7, which led toem his arrest and was further referred to Station 7 for the disposition of the case. Case is for inquest proceedings.
Report re Police Assistance to a Foreign National who was a victim of theft in Makati City
At about 12:00 NN of March 24, 2018, Banaue MPS received a call from a concerned citizen informing that a foreigner is sleeping at the Ohayami Bus Terminal, Tam-an, Banaue Ifugao and looks disoriented. Immediately, personnel of Banaue MPS responded and identified the foreigner as Damian Brian Gabriel Hughes, 36, single, engineer by profession and a British national.
Investigation disclosed that at about 12:00 NN -1:00 PM of March 23, 2018, the victim met a man and two (2) women in Makati City saying that they were going to Banaue, Ifugao which the victim was also planning to visit.The victim was then accompanied by the suspects to buy a bus ticket at a Manila bus terminal and went back to Makati City where they had lunch in a restaurant. At about 9:00 PM of same date, he awoke disoriented inside a taxi and noticed that his phone (Apple 5SE) with estimated value of Php 29,000.00 and his money amounting to Php9,000.00 were missing. He asked the taxi driver to find the missing items but the driver just took his luggage out from his taxi and left. He then went to the bus station and sought assistance from the police personnel on duty at the bus station. Accordingly, two Policewomen took notes on the incident and advised him to proceed and report the incident to the Police Station. They showed also the CCTV footage to the victim and he was able to identify one of the women who were with him at the restaurant. After which, personnel of the Manila police advised him to continue his tour, and later took the bus bound to Banaue, Ifugao. The victim who was still disoriented and feeling dizzy was assisted by personnel of Banaue MPS to find a temporary billeting and to gain his strength.
PROCOR nabs 8 and seizes P0.6-M of marijuana
Eight individuals were arrested and seized P0.6M worth of marijuanan iin a series of operations.
In Kalinga, drug pushers identified as Federico Rivera Sarne a.k.a. Ricky Sarne, 48, tricycle driver, resident of Laya East, Tabuk City, Kalinga was arrested in the afternoon of March 23, 2018 at Provincial Rd., Brgy. Magsaysay, Tabuk City, Kalinga, while Billy Jack Magana Sanchez, 24, a resident of Tesco Street, Timog Park, Lower Angeles City was arrested at Mangapi Buscalan, Tinglayan, Kalinga in the morning of the following day.
Seized from the possession of Sarne were three (3) small heat-sealed plastic transparent sachets containing suspected shabu; two (2) Cherry Mobile cellphones; a wallet containing Php2,355.00 cash and documents; and Php1,000.00 buy bust money. While seized from the possession of Sanchez were 6 bundles of marijuana stalks weighing more or less 6 kgs; and 4 pieces of marijuana bricks weighing more or less 4 kgs found inside his back pack.
In another operation, passengers identified as Mary Paulette Arpon Lazaga, 21, a resident of Irisan, Baguio City, and John Paul Ponceja Alimpia, 34, a resident of Upper Dagsian, Baguio City who were on board a sky blue Toyota Corolla driven by Rogelio Abellada Kintanar Jr, 38, a resident of Upper Engineers Hill, Baguio City were arrested. They were intercepted in the afternoon of March 17, 2018 at Sitio Mar-O Junction road going to Barangay Buscalan, Tinglayan, Kalinga. As a result, several marijuana fruiting tops weighing more or less 5,540.5 grams with dangerous drug board value of Php 692,500.00 placed in a dark blue bag were confiscated.
In Baguio City, three drug pushers of whom one is a minor were separately arrested in a buy-bust operation after they were caught selling illegal drugs to one of the agents who was a poseur buyer.
Recently, a 16 year old minor, a resident of New Lucban, Baguio City and a native of Naguilian, La Union was taken into custody by the City Social Welfare and Development Office in the afternoon of March 23, 2018. Seized from his possession were four (4) pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu; Php2,000.00 boodle money; and assorted drug paraphernalia.
On March 18, 2018, arrested suspects identified as Marlon M. Biala, 31, waiter, a resident of Lower Pinget, Baguio City and Dingky Joy B. Tabora, 36, businesswoman, a resident of Middle Pinget, Baguio City were arrested along Lower Rock Quarry, City Camp, Baguio City. Seized from their possession were two pieces of heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected “shabu”, Php500.00 buy-bust money, two units of Sony Xperia cellular phone and one front plate number bearing WNL 779 for a white Toyota Hi-Ace Super Custom Van.
A case for violation of RA 9165 or the“Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002” was filed against the arrested suspects.**
