Murder and frustrated murder
At around 5:30 PM of April 15, 2018, a cell phone call was received by Pidigan MPS from a concerned citizen informing that an alleged shooting incident transpired in Sitio Banay, Barangay Monggoc, Pidigan, Abra. The three victims were identified as Brgy. Kagawad Victor Dela Cruz Pisco, his wife Brgy. Captain Elida Sales Pisco and his sister Myrna Pisco Vasquez, all residents of Brgy. Immuli, Pidigan, Abra.
Initial investigation disclosed that the victims were on board a blue elf-truck traversing the Pidigan-Pilar Provincial Road going to Brgy. Immuli, Pidigan when they were shot by unidentified motorcycle riding suspects who overtook them. The suspects fled towards San Isidro/Villaviciosa direction after the incident.
The victims were rushed by the responding personnel of Pidigan MPS to Abra Provincial Hospital. Kagawad Victor Pisco was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician while the two other victims are under observation. The crime scene was processed by personnel of Abra Provincial Crime Laboratory Office and they were able to recover two spent shells from a cal. 45 pistol. Investigation is stil ongoing.
Vehicular accident
At about 7:39 PM of April 18, 2018, a vehicular accident transpired along the National Road in Dugong, Tungngod, Lagawe, Ifugao wherein a Kawasaki Fury 125 motorcycle without plate number driven by John Mark Dominong Buhulon, 17 years old, and resident of Caba, Lagawe, Ifugao bumped the stonewall beside the road.
Initial investigation disclosed that the speeding motorcycle came from Ibulao, Kiangan heading to Poblacion, Lagawe and upon arrival at the said place of incident suddenly bumped the riprap stone. He was thrown away while the motorcycle tumbled down. As a result, the driver sustained multiple injuries on different parts of his body and he was brought by responding PNP personnel to the IGH Clinic, Natuwolan, Cudog, Lagawe, Ifugao but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician due to traumatic brain injury. The involved motorcycle was brought to Lagawe MPS for proper disposition.
84 gamblers arrested in almost 7 weeks
From March 1 to April 9, 2018, operatives conducted a total of 11 police operations that resulted in the arrest of 38 gamblers and the filling of 11 cases in court. Bet money amounting to Php34,326.00.were also confiscated.
Moreover, from April 10-16, 2018, a total of 15 operations were conducted that led to the arrest of 46 gamblers of which 13 cases were filed in court. During the operations, 3 slot machines were seized while a total of Php 42,611.5 bet money were confiscated.
On April 12, 2018, 15 bettors were arrested in the act of playing cards in the provinces of Benguet and Kalinga.
In Benguet, gamblers identified as Daniel Bayeng Monang, 21, farmer, a resident of Longlong, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet; Delio Ato Guinyawan, 30; and Wakat Kiwas ‘Monang’ Chacchacan, 47, farmer, both resident of Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet were arrested at Longlong, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet, while Catche Pamitlan Malecdan, 56; Easter Ana-ao Bogyoy, 55; Delia Alicmas Banganan, 58; and Kaizz Balangue Sotero, 21, all resident of Antamok Tram, Ucab, Itogon, Benguet were also nabbed at the terrace of Malecdan. Moreover, Marlon It-itan Alipio, 32, Gerald Sab-it Tindaan, 25; Jimmy Balensoy Udaundo Jr.,41; and Francis Aspoen Deligen, 49, all residents of Philex Mines, Tuba, Benguet landed in jail after they were nabbed at the Market area of Philex Mines, Tuba, Benguet.
During the operation, confiscated were assorted gambling paraphernalia and bet money amounting to total of P3,286.50.
In another operation, gamblers identified as Jhonny Thomas Isidro, 28, beautician and a resident of Purok Datu, Bulanao, Tabuk City; Aileen Paytal Disngayon, 31, a resident of Cabaritan, Tabuk City; Jemma Galano Compas, 49, and Jovelyn Gasaran Malaggay, 40, both residents of Purok 2, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga were collared in the afternoon of the same day. Confiscated were three sets of playing cards and bet money amounting to P896.00.**
