P5-M worth of MJ destroyed
Over five-million pesos worth of marijuana plants were uprooted by combined elements of Kalinga police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera Administrative Region (PDEA-CAR). The operating units successfully cleared five marijuana plantations in Tinglayan, Kalinga on June 19, 2018.
Operatives of Tinglayan Municipal Police Station, Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company in coordination with the PDEA-CAR, conducted the marijuana eradication operations in Brgy Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga that led to the discovery of the illegal hemp, planted in an estimated land area of 2,550 square meters. A total of 19,450 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants and 5 kilograms of marijuana stalks, with a total estimated market value of PhP 5,140,000.00 were destroyed as a result of the operation.
Some of the marijuana plants were destroyed during a ceremonial burning led by Police Chief Superintendent Rolando Z Nana, Regional Director of the PRO-Cordillera. The burning was witnessed by Hon. Jocel Baac, Provincial Governor, Hon. James Edduba, Provincial vice Governor, Pastor Bencio Ladyong, Mr. Remzky Roaquin, representatives of the media, Kalinga Provincial Crime Laboratory Office, and the Kalinga PPO.
Theft
On June 17, 2018 at about 7:30 PM, a case of Theft (pickpocket) transpired along Governor Pack Road, Baguio City on complaint of Carla Mae Juguilon Villena, 19, student, single, and a resident of No. 67 Castañeda Building, Upper Market Subdivision, Baguio City against arrested suspect Renz Balangguy Pasi, 18, single, high school graduate, and resident of Buyagan, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Investigation showed that the victim was walking alone at the said place of incident when the suspect who was hanging out near the entrance of COMELEC Baguio City followed and surreptitiously filched her gold Samsung J1 2016 model cellphone. Victim felt it and followed the suspect who walked normaaly. However when the suspect glanced back and noticed that he was being followed by the victim he ran and cro ssed the road. The victim shouted “Magnanakaw yan.” The peope in the area apprehended the suspect and was brought to Police Precinct 3 of PS7-BCPO where the cellphone was recovered in his possession. Both parties and the recovered piece of evidence were turned over to PS7-BCPO for disposition. Case was ready for inquest proceedings.
Shooting incident
On June 14, 2018 at around 9:38 PM, personnel of Tabuk CPS responded to a shooting incident that transpired at Gilfilan Street, Dagupan Centro, Tabuk City, Kalinga particularly in front of Elvie Calizar’s residence where the victims identified as Silver Calizar Pukin aka “Kintoy”, 36 years old, single, jobless and resident of the aforesaid place and Dexter Buslig, 41 years old, married, jobless and resident of Mayangao Street, Dagupan Centro, Tabuk City, Kalinga were shot by still unidentified suspect/s.
In an interview with Mark Baculi Guiang, 38 years old, single, he averred that he was inside their boarding house when he heard a burst of gunfire outside that prompted him to verify and he saw the victims seeking for help. Guiang called thru mobile phone the CDRRMC of Tabuk City to rescue the victims and rushed them to Kalinga Provincial Hospital but the victims were declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, Dr. Angelica Galang. Buslig sustained lone gunshot wound on his anterior neck while Pukin sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
SOCO team processed the crime scene and were able to recover four empty shells of a Caliber .45. Case is under follow-up investigation.
Theft (shoplifting)
On June 14, 2018 at around 9:30 AM at Ladies Accessories, Lower Ground Floor of SM Baguio, Jaymeelyn Palaganas Dayog, 23 years old, single, native of San Carlos City, Pangasinan and resident of Sumulong St., Baguio City; and Mery Grace Revita Abucay, 21 years old, single, native of Umingan, Pangasinan and resident of No.180 Foot Hill, Crystal Cave, Baguio City were apprehended for shoplifting.
Investigation showed that Jobelle Bandong, Security Guard at the said establishment was monitoring customers at the Department Store when she saw the suspects at the Ladies Accessories taking items and hiding these under their garments instead of paying for them at the counter. S/G Bandong waited for the suspects at the frisking area wherein he confronted them and they voluntarily brought out the assorted items from their under garments with a total value of P3,647.00.
Case was referred to Prosecutor Mark Jeff Balangitan for inquest proceedings and who ordered the detention of the suspects at the Baguio City Jail.**
