11 deserving PNP personnel and surviving families of policemen receive awards
Eleven (11) deserving PNP personnel were awarded while one PNP personnel and three (3) dependents received benefits from the NAPOLCOM during the distinguished visitors program with the guest of honor and speaker, Engineer MANUEL BOGNOT WONG, OIC, RD/Provincial Director of Baguio-Benguet, TESDA-CAR at Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet.
During the ceremony, awardees of Medalya ng Kagalingan were: SPO4 Basilio D Dawadao; SPO1 Alex D Tambalong; PO3 Richard A Palicas; PO1 James Arnel B Macar; and PO1 Alfonso B Anoya for the successful destruction of million worth of marijuana plants in Tinglayan, Kalinga. Medalya ng Kasanayan was also awarded to PO1 Regilyn P Borja; PO1 Gerlyn Wayne L Rebolledo; PO1 Eric P Cabradilla; and PO1 Mambi J Fuchigami for their exemplary performance in representing PROCOR and winning the Gold Medal in Kyurofi (Sparring) during the 1st PNP Wide Taekwondo Championship held at Camp Rafael T Crame, Quezon City. Moreover, Medalya ng Papuri was also awarded to PO2 Ruby Anne O Puguon and PO1 JC Boy Benitez for bagging the Bronze Medal in Poomsae (Doubles).
Furthermore, in line with the PNP’s welfare benefits program, the surviving spouse of PO2 Frenzel B Kitoyan who was killed during the explosion incident at the Town Fiesta celebration in La Paz, Abra on January 24, 2018 received a gratuity cash amounting to Php463,005.00 and NAPOLCOM scholarship grant for her children while surviving parents of PO1 Michael U Baccaco who died during a vehicular accident at Tayum, Abra on February 6, 2017 received a check amounting to Php222,510.00. Likewise, PO2 Jovenal S Tolentino who retired from the PNP service due to Total Permanent Physical Disability received a gratuity cash amounting to Php370,404.00 and a lifetime pension of Php24,693.60 same with the surviving spouse of PO2 Kitoyan.
In the message of OIC-RD Manuel B Wong, he congratulated the awardees for a job well done. He also solicited the continued collaboration of the PNP with them in addressing manpower development. “TESDA cannot do as much as it has done without the support of partners,” he added.
Rape and acts of lasciviousness
On July 6, 2018 at around 7:40 AM, joint personnel of Kapangan MPS and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Benguet arrested Mars Calawa “Bogas” Laduan, 37 years, single, bus helper, native and resident of Mangga, Balakbak,Kapangan, Benguet.
He was arrested in Barangay Belance, Dupax Del Norte, Nueva Vizcaya by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Marietta S, Brawner-Cualing Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 9, First Judicial Region, La Trinidad, Benguet in Criminal Case No. 18-CR-12426-28 for rape (without bail) and acts of lasciviousness (Php36,000.00 bail). The accused was brought to Kapangan MPS for documentation prior to his turnover to the issuing court.
Concubinage
At about 11:30 AM of July 6, 2018, a joint tracker team of La Trinidad MPS, PIB, PIDMB, RIU-14, RID and CIDG PFU-Benguet arrested Edgar Santiban Aromin, 42 years old, married, and resident of Balili, LaTrinidad, Benguet.
He was arrested in Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Melita Amylesha D. Macaraeg, Acting Presiding Judge of MTC, First Judicial Region, Province of Benguet in Criminal Case No. R-18964 for concubinage with bail of Php20,000.00. He is now under the custody of La Trinidad MPS for proper documentation prior to his turnover to the issuing court.
Vehicular accident
At about 5:35 PM of July 6, 2018, a vehicular accident resulting in physical injuries transpired near UCCP Church located at Shanum Road, Baguio City. Prince Chukuhalu Edike, 32 years old, married, Nigerian National, student and a resident of No. 40 Purok 4 Gibraltar, Baguio City was hit by a Ford Ecosport wagon with plate no. ACL-2118 driven by an unidentified male driver while walking along the road. Due to the impact, the victim lost balance and collapsed on the ground. He was able to stand up, chased on foot the Ford Ecosport, and insisted for the driver that he be brought to the SLU Hospital for medical treatment. The male driver brought the victim to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC), instead at SLU Hospital and immediately left without assisting the victim. The victim sustained injuries on his left foot.
Duty traffic investigators proceeded immediately to the BGHMC Emergency Room and upon arrival thereat, the duty guard asserted that the driver involved refused to surrender his driver’s license and fled to an unknown direction. Personnel of PS7, Baguio CPO relayed the incident and details of the vehicle to the Tactical Operations Center, Baguio CPO for alarm and possible apprehension of the suspect.
