Soil erosion
On August 25, 2018 at about 6:00 AM, at Tagpaya, Madaymen, Kibungan, Benguet, Florentino Ligaten and Cristina Ligaten died when their concrete bungalow house was buried by a soil erosion while they were inside. Their son, Clifford Ligaten, was rescued by their neighbors and was rushed to Atok District Hospital and is now in stable condition. The remains of the victims now lie in their adjacent house at the said place of incident. Post rescue operation led by Hon. Cesar Monte Molitas, Municipal Mayor is still ongoing.
PROCOR nets 5 drug personalities
Five drug peddlers have been arrested in the provinces of Abra and Kalinga.
Combined elements of Tinglayan Municipal Police Station, Kalinga Provincial Maneuver Force Company and PDE-CAR nabbed two individuals under the bridge at Sitio Mamaga, Barangay Bugnay, Tinglayan, Kalinga on August 24, 2018. The operation was initiated after an information that the suspects in possession of illegal drugs and were hiding therw. They were identified as Yeoj Vincent Munsayac, 19, resident of Brgy. Tambubong, Bocaue, Bulacan, and Anjelo Jerome M. Manansala, 22, resident of Brgy. Duhat, Bocaue, Bulacan.
Discovered and seized from their bags were eleven (11) bricks of dried marijuana leaves wrapped with packing tape. The inventory of confiscated contraband was witnessed by Barangay Chairman Robert C. Dumpao and Pastor Randy Yag-ao of the Presbyterian Church.
Meanwhile, Hadji Balageo Galming 32 was apprehended in his residence at Purok 4, Bulanao, Tabuk City on August 24, 2018 by virtue of the implementation of a Search Warrant. As a result, three (3) heat sealed transparent sachet containing suspected shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia and one cellular phone were confiscated in his possession. Inventory of confiscated items was done in the presence of Brgy. Chairman Cosme Gunnawa, other members of the Brgy. Council and media representatives.
In a buy-bust operation, a tricycle driver and drug pusher identified as Michael Gabuay Gonzales, 39, a resident of Brgy Lubong, Bangued, Abra was arrested at Brgy Poblacion, Tayum, Abra on the afternoon of August 25, 2018. Confiscated from his possession were one heat sealed sachet containing suspected shabu and marked money amounting to Php1,000.00. Likewise, another suspect identified as Mark Vincent Bartolazo Vasquez, 26, a resident of Brgy Bangbangar, Bangued, Abra was caught at Brgy Patucannay, Tayum, Abra on the same date.
Confiscated in his possession were two heat sealed sachets containing suspected shabu and marked money amounting to Php1,000.00.
PROCOR neutralizes 3 drug personalities
On August 24, 2018 at Km 54, Tuludan Junction, Atok, Benguet personnel of Benguet, Atok MPS, and Benguet PMFC, in coordination with PDEA neutralized John Simon Arguelles, 25, with postal address at Luzon Ave., Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City who tried to elude the above personnel manning a checkpoint. When they pursued him. In the proces, he fired a gun prompting the operatives to return fire which led to his death.
Recovered from his possession were one (1) marijuana brick wrapped with a masking tape having an estimated dangerous drug board (DDB) value of Php120, 000.00 placed inside a black back pack; one (1) paper bag filled with suspected marijuana worth Php30,000; 1 black coin purse containing cash amounting to Php2,300.00; 1 small plastic heat sealed sachet of shabu with undetermined value; and one (1) Caliber .38 with live ammunition.
And on August 28, 2018 at Bontiwey, Badiwan, Marcos Highway, Tuba, Benguet where 2 suspects, one of whom was identified as Pedro Badong Animalis thru his recovered driver’s license, members of the Pagari group, known to be involved in drug peddling and gun running, were sighted standing along the road thereat. Upon noticing the arrival of the operatives of the Intelligence of Benguet PPO, BCPO and members of Tuba MPS, suspects fired at them prompting the operatives to retaliate. As a result, one suspect was hit while the other run towards the forested area but was chased until he was also hit.
Recovered from the 2 cadavers were: 1 black wallet containing a professional driver’s license; 4 heat sealed transparent sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu; one US dollar bill; 1 sealed condom; 2 heat sealed transparent sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu; 4 pieces P1,000 buy bust money;1 piece blue colored lighter; 1 cal. 45 pistol with inserted magazine containing 6 live ammo for cal.45; 1 cal. 38 revolver containing 2 fired cartridges, 2 empty cartridges, and 1 misfitted ammo; 1 cap colored black; 2 pairs slippers; and 1 cal. 38 revolver with 4 live ammo.**
