NPA attacks Malibcong Police Station, 5 wounded, firearms carted away
PROCOR CAMP BADO DANGWA– In the hinterland municipality of Malibcong, the Malibcong Municipal Police Station (MPS) was attacked by members of the New People’s Army sparking a 10-minute exchange of fire at 7:30 PM Sunday, March 12, 2017.
The police station of Malibcong MPS is an abandoned house of Municipal Mayor Bacuyag which was used as a temporary base of Malibcong MPS which was attacked by 30 NPAs under KLG North Abra led by A.K.A. Payas.
The rebels took advantage of the outnumbered policemen on duty and were able to cart away their firearms including the firearms of personnel who were on off duty. Seven long firearms, 3 short firearms, assorted ammunition and assorted personal and office gadgets were taken by the rebels. No policeman was hurt during the incident.
Immediately, the AFP/PNP troops conducted joint pursuit operations and mobilized all detachments and patrol bases. Checkpoints and blocking forces were also conducted in the boundary of Lacub and Malibcong, Abra.
Just recently, five members of the Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) were wounded in action after one platoon of the PPSC led by PSSUPT Alexander Tagum, Abra Provincial Director together with the Company Commander PSUPT Allen Bauding were ambushed at Malibcong Malanas bridge, Brgy Poblacion, Malibcong, Abra while on their way to Malibcong MPS for reinforcement.
The troops were trapped by an alleged Improvised Explosive Devise (IED) explosion followed by burst of fire that led to the wounding of the policemen identified as PO2 Jessie Pastores Trinidad, PO1 Marlon Banigan De Lapaz, PO1 Gerome Pacapac Baldos, PO1 Von Harold Layao and PO1 Kennon Batanes Sanggoy. All were brought to Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.
Regional Director Police Chief Superintendent Elmo Francis Oco Sarona ordered the creation of the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) headed by the Deputy Regional Director for Administration (DRDA) PSSUPT Gregorio N Lim to conduct investigation and shed light on the liabilities of the PNP members.
Robbery with FUT
On March 13, 2017 between 12:00MN to 6:30AM, a case of robbery with force upon things transpired at No. 7 Rillera Building, Dagohoy Street, Baguio City wherein Mr. Jerome Dy Bartolome, a newspaper vendor who kept his goods on the alley of the building, saw the padlock destroyed and informed Mr. Franklin Loyd Manantan Cerna, the caretaker who resides at the 3rd floor of the building. There they saw the exit door of the Cabato Medical Clinic located at the 2nd floor of the building destroyed with the iron grill door hook removed through the use of a bolt cutter, and the knob was detached.
Investigation disclosed that the suspects entered through the back door and carted away the following: pharmacy sales amounting to five thousand pesos (Php 5,000.00), a black Lenovo netbook worth twelve thousand pesos (Php 12,000.00) owned by Dr Joseph Cabato, five (5) boxes of Levofloxacin medicine, four (4) boxes of Prulibact medicine, all kept at the pharmacy section. Also taken were five (5) boxes of nebulizer, an apple laptop worth forty five thousand (Php 45,000.00) placed at the x-ray room. Ms Cheryl Farrales, the clinic pharmacist narrated that she closed the clinic at about 3:00PM of March 12, 2017 with all the things inside. The suspects exited through the back door.
Alleged Acts of Lasciviousness
On March 14, 2017 at about 2:00 PM, a 23 year-old female (name withheld), single, and a resident of Bila, Namal, Asipulo, Ifugao personally appeared at Asipulo MPS and reported that sometime on September 19, 2007 at Bila, Namal, Asipulo, Ifugao one Victor Puddunan, 62, married, farmer and a resident of same address caressed her breasts.
Investigation disclosed that at about 12:00 MN of September 19, 2007 when the victim and her three younger brothers were all asleep inside their room she was awakened when she felt that somebody was caressing her breasts. The suspect continued caressing her breasts until she forcibly removed the suspect’s hand. Victim also revealed that the suspect touched her legs sometime on February 2008 inside her boarding house. She did not reveal the incidents to her mother and older brothers/sisters because of fear. Case is ready for referral to the Prosecutor’s Office, Lagawe, Ifugao.**
