TRANSPORTATION OF P1.3M WORTH OF MARIJUANA INTERCEPTED IN KALINGA
Two individuals will now be facing charges for violations of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, after they were arrested for transporting marijuana bricks worth over 1.3 million pesos in Lubuagan, Kalinga, on September 7, 2023.
According to the report reaching the Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR., the arrested suspects were identified as Mayo Edas, 44 years old, and Cristopher Dacyon, 46 years old.
The same report disclosed that the two suspects were arrested by the joint personnel of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office, Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Intelligence Unit-14, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, and the 141 SAC 14SAB-PNP Special Action Force after they were cornered in a COMELEC Checkpoint conducted by the personnel at Sitio Dinakan, Brgy. Dangoy, Lubuagan, Kalinga
The operating units confiscated 11 bricks of suspected marijuana dried leaves with an estimated weight of 11, 000 grams with a Standard Drug Price of Php 1,320,000.00.
The inventory and marking of the pieces of evidence recovered were conducted on site in the presence of the arrested suspects and witnessed by Mr. Daryl Gassilang, media representative, and Ms. Edna Taotao, Barangay Kagawad.
The arrested suspects and the seized pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of Lubuagan MPS for documentation and proper disposition.
TWO FORMER CTG MEMBERS SURRENDER IN ABRA AND BENGUET
As part of the intensified campaign of the PRO Cordillera to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) in the region, two members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) have returned to the folds of the law and surrendered to the authorities in the provinces of Abra and Benguet on September 11, 2023.
In Abra, the rebel returnee is a former member of the KLG-North Abra and is on the PSRTG watchlist as of the 1st Quarter of 2023. He voluntarily surrendered after a series of negotiations conducted by the operatives of the 1504th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of the Abra Police Provincial Office (PPO), Sallapadan Municipal Police Station (MPS), the 2nd Abra Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), the Regional Intelligence Unit 14 (RIU-14), the City Intelligence Unit of the Baguio City Police Office, the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA)-CAR, and the Philippine Army.
The rebel returnee also handed over a 12 Guage homemade shotgun with a magazine to the authorities.
Meanwhile, in Benguet, another rebel returnee surrendered to the operatives of Itogon MPS, 2nd Ifugao PMFC, RIU-14, PIU of Benguet PPO, the Regional Intelligence Division, RMFB15, and NICA-CAR after a series of negotiations.
He also handed over to the authorities his caliber 38 Smith and Wesson with no ammunition.
The rebel returnees are now under the custody of the respective operating units for custodial debriefing and proper disposition.
The Regional Director, PBGen DAVID K PEREDO Jr thanked the duo for the right choice they had made and appealed to all rebels who are still in the organization to return to the folds of the law. “The government is ever willing to accept you with open arms, come down and legalize your cause”, he said.
