OVER P1.8M WORTH OF ILLEGAL DRUGS SEIZED IN
WEEKLONG DRUG OPS
A total of PhP1,826,800 worth of illegal drugs were seized, and two drug personalities were arrested in the weeklong drug operations conducted from November 26 to December 2, 2023.
Citing the records from the Regional Operations Division, two drug personalities identified as Bernard B. Pallay and Jaydee A. Espisa, were arrested after being caught in possession of suspected shabu weighing MOL 1 gram, with an overall Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP6800.
The arrested suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to their respective arresting units, while charges for violating the R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were being prepared against the suspects.
The same report disclosed that a total of 7,300 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants and 3,000 stalks with an overall SDP of PhP1,820,000.00 were discovered in a marijuana eradication operation conducted in the province of Benguet.
These were all burned by operatives after documentation, and follow-up operations are being conducted to identify possible marijuana cultivators. Also, police personnel continuously conduct barangay visitation and information operations regarding the anti-illegal drugs campaign of the PNP.
The Chief of the Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) of PRO Cordillera, PMAJ MARCY GRACE U MARRON, together with PSSg Rhodalyn B Pinated, served as guests in the “Usaping PIA” Teleradyo program of ZRadio conducted at the University of Baguio, Gen. Luna Road, Baguio City on December 7, 2023.
As part of the program, PMAJ MARRON and PSSg Pinated were interviewed by the host, Ms. Debbie E Gasingan, regarding gender-based violence and its current situation in the Cordillera.
In her message, PMAJ MARRON encouraged victims to promptly report gender-based violence or Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) incidents to the nearest police stations or seek assistance from the WCPD within their respective barangay or municipality.
This activity is part of the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) which is observed from November 25 to December 12 of every year to raise awareness that VAW is a public issue of national concern.
