FARMER ARRESTED FOR SELLING ILLEGAL DRUGS; P7.2M WORTH OF MARIJUANA BURNED
A farmer listed as a high-value drug personality was arrested, while a total of Php7,241,888.00 worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-illegal drugs operations initiated by the Kabalyero cops of Benguet Police Provincial Office on April 29, 2024.
Based on the reports submitted to the PRO Cordillera Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR., the 33-year-old male drug personality was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by joint operatives of the Benguet PPO Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Provincial Intelligence Unit, and Kibungan Municipal Police Station in Brgy. Madaymen, Kibungan, Benguet.
According to the same operatives, the suspect sold one heat sealed plastic transparent sachet weighing 1.08 grams to an operative who acted as a posuer buyer, while another plastic sachet weighing 5.08 grams was confiscated from his possession.
The arrested suspect and the confiscated illegal drugs weighing more or less 6.16 grams with a total Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php41,888.00 were brought to PDEU for proper documentation and disposition, while charges for violation of R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is being filed against the suspect.
Simultaneously, on the same day, anti-illegal drugs operatives of Benguet PPO burned 60,000 grams of dried marijuana stalks with fruiting tops with an SDP of Php7,200,000.00 which they discovered in Sitio Batadang, Tacadang, Kibungan while on a marijuana eradication operation.
As of press time, operatives are conducting a thorough investigation to identify possible marijuana cultivators, while continuous information operations on the anti-illegal drugs campaign of the PNP and community engagement are being conducted.
Medical equipment of PRO Cordillera Hospital upgraded by the DOH-CAR
The medical equipment of the Police Regional Office Cordillera Hospital was recently upgraded with the aid of the Director IV of the Department of Health (DOH), Center for Health Development (CHD)-CAR, Dr. Amelita M. Pangilinan.
Dr. Pangilinan graciously presented a portable X-ray machine during her visit to the Police Regional Office Cordillera in Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet on April 29, 2024.
During her arrival, Dr. Pangilinan was received by the Asst. Division Chief of the Regional Community Affairs and Development Division, PLTCOL PELITA P TACIO and was accorded with a traditional welcome dance performed by the PRO Cordillera cultural dancers.
Highlights of the activity were the blessing and turnover of the Portable X-ray machine, medicines, and multivitamins by Dr. Pangilinan to the PRO Cordillera, Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR, and the Chief Regional Medical and Dental Unit, PCOL ALEX O MANLANGIT.
Further, a Certificate of Accreditation was issued to Camp Bado Dangwa Hospital in compliance with the Statutory mandates outlined in Republic Act 10028, widely known as the “Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009” signed by Dr. Pangilinan.
In her message, Dr. Pangilinan expressed her gratitude to the women and men of PRO Cordillera for the continued partnership with the DOH-CAR and hopes that the said portable x-ray would help improve the enhancement of health facilities in PRO Cordillera.
“The DOH-CAR and the PRO Cordillera have always been having a good relationship. We look forward to this fostering synergy to both agencies so we can achieve a safer and healthier Cordillera.” Dr. Pangilinan said.
