Cordi cops eradicates P16.9M worth or MJ plants in Kalinga and Benguet
In a relentless effort to eradicate marijuana cultivation in the Cordillera region, the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR) conducted a successful two-day marijuana eradication operation from July 19–20, 2024, which led to the discovery of ten plantation sites containing a total of 84,750 Fully Grown Marijuana Plants (FGMJP) with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP16,950,000.00.
In Kalinga, a series of marijuana eradication operations led to the discovery of seven plantation sites in Barangay East and West Tulgao, Tinglayan, planted with 49,350 pieces of FGMJP with an SDP of PhP11,310,000.00. Additionally, two more sites in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, yielded 27,000 pieces of FGMJP with an SDP of PhP5,400,000.00.
Moreover, in Benguet, another plantation site was discovered, containing 1,200 pieces of FGMJP with a SDP of PhP240,000.00 in Brgy. Kayapa, Bakun
Upon discovery, the operatives uprooted and burned the marijuana plants on-site, with sufficient samples taken for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit CAR.
The said operations were successful with the concerted efforts of joint operatives from different units of PRO-CAR, including Bakun Municipal Police Station (MPS), Benguet and Kalinga Provincial Intelligence Units, Pinukpuk MPS, Tinglayan MPS, Pasil MPS, Balbalan MPS, 1st and 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Companies, 1503rd Maneuver Company of Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, Kalinga Drug Enforcement Unit, Regional Intelligence Unit 14, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-CAR.
Cops confiscate 234K worth of illegal drugs, arrest three suspects in one day drug ops
Underscoring their commitment to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region and ensure the safety and well-being of the community, PRO-CAR cops seize PhP34,000.00 worth of shabu from three drug personalities involved in drug trafficking and burn marijuana plants worth PhP200,000.00 in separate anti-illegal drugs operations conducted across the region on July 22, 2024.
In Baguio City, joint operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency- CAR and Baguio City Police Office arrested a 30-year-old female and a 45-year-old male, both identified as High-Value Individuals after they were caught red-handed selling suspected shabu, totaling approximately 2.5 grams with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP17,000.00, in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Bakakeng Central. An additional 0.5 grams of shabu with a SDP of PhP3,400.00 was found on the male suspect during the body search.
Meanwhile, in Pinukpuk, Kalinga, a 47-year-old female identified as a Street Level Individual was apprehended after authorities discovered five sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 2 grams with a SDP of PhP13,600.00 in her residence in Brgy. Taggay. The operation was carried out by joint operatives from the different units of Kalinga PPO, Regional Intelligence Unit 14, and PDEA-Kalinga, following a successful search warrant operation.
All arrested suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to their respective operating units for proper disposition and charges for violation of R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is being prepared against them.
Simultaneously, in Benguet, a marijuana eradication operation led by Benguet PPO, RIU-14, and PDEA-CAR resulted in the discovery of 1,000 fully grown marijuana plants with a SDP of PhP200,000.00 in Brgy. Kayapa, Bakun. After documentation, samples were collected and submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit- CAR for further analysis.
