Abra cops dance to help
In Abra, a fundraising activity was initiated by police officers on March 12, 2022.
Dubbed as “Zumba for a Cause ni PD Cula at Aleng Pulis”, the activity was participated in by police officers and various community stakeholders.
In total, 395 participants from the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection – Abra, Local Government Unit, Academe, Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina, Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo, Barangay Health Workers, Philippine National Red Cross, and other stakeholders joined the activity.
As part of their celebration of Women’s Month, the activity also aimed to promote women’s empowerment and to recognize their important contribution to our society.
The proceeds will be used to fund the various outreach and empowerment activities of Abra PPO to help Children In Conflict with the Law (CICL), persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, and those individuals with VAWC related cases.
“As we dance to the tune of the Zumba music, let us enjoy the moment of utilizing our body movements to send the message to the people around us that by [our] collaborative partnership, we see no reason to fall in our life-changing advocacies.”, PCOL MALY C CULA, the Acting Provincial Director of Abra PPO, said in a statement.
MP cops joins COMELEC in quest for SAFE
Cordillera’s quest for a Secure, Accurate, Free, and Fair Elections (S.A.F.E.) continues as Mountain Province PPO which initiated a unity walk in Bontoc, Mountain Province March 12, 2022.
From Bontoc Municipal Capitol, the police officers walked together with the COMELEC-Mtn. Province, religious leaders, and other community stakeholders until they reached the Provincial Plaza where a simple program was held to promote SAFE 2022.
The highlights of the program were the declaration of commitments of the political aspirants to promote clean, honest and peaceful elections. The declaration is anchored on the values of “inayan”, “lawa”, “paniyaw” or “panyew” and treats competitors as their “kabsat”.
As part of its voter’s information campaign, the COMELEC conducted a Vote Counting Machine (VCM) Roadshow so the public will see what the machine looks like, how it works, and how it will be used on election day.
Also, the signing of the Integrity Pledge, Peace Covenant and lighting of the SAFE candle was conducted to reinforce the declaration of the political aspirants.
In a statement, PCOL RUBEN B ANDISO, the Provincial Director of Mtn. province PPO, assured the public of the non-partisan status of the Mtn. Province police force. He also solicited the support of the public in attaining clean, honest and peaceful elections.
The activity ended with a prayer and launching of the Mountain Province Hymn for Intelligent Voting by the Aggiornamento Music Ministry.
Kalinga PPO’S Officers’ Ladies Club reaches out to Tanudan community
In observance of the National Women’s Month celebration, the PNP Officers’ Ladies Club (OLC) of Kalinga together with the personnel assigned in the Provincial Headquarters of Kalinga Police Provincial Office and Tanudan MPS conducted an outreach program in Brgy. Gaang, Tanudan, Kalinga on March 11, 2022.
As highlights, the OLC headed by its advisers, Ms. Joyce Tagtag and Ms. Eileen Rose U Bulwayan, distributed school supplies, hygiene kits, biscuits, and candies as love gifts to the more than 80 pupils of Gaang Elementary School. Also, they distributed grocery and food packs to 112 families in Brgy. Gaang.
As part of the program, lectures on Violence Against Women and their Children and Child Abuse were conducted by Attorney Romelyn G. Alinao. While, lectures on Anti-bullying, anti-illegal drugs, and anti-terrorism were delivered by the police officers of Tanudan MPS.
Aside from Gaang, Tanudan, similar outreach programs were also conducted by Kalinga PPO OLC in other parts of the province.
