2022 RECAP: 92 GUN VIOLATORS ARRESTED: 1,149 LOOSE FIREARMS
ACCOUNTED IN THE CORDILLERA
PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN MAFELINO A BAZAR announced that a total of 92-gun violators were arrested and 1,149 assorted firearms were accounted for in the Cordillera region in Calendar Year 2022 as the result of PROCOR’s intensified campaign against loose firearms.
Based on the records from the Regional Operations Division (ROD), for the period covered, Kalinga PPO has the highest number of accomplishments with 26 arrests & 19 filed cases in court followed by Abra PPO with 25 arrests & 21 filed cases then Baguio CPO with 13 arrests & 8 filed cases; Mtn. Province PPO with 11 arrests and 6 filed cases; Benguet PPO with 9 arrests and 9 filed cases; Apayao PPO with 6 arrests and 6 filed cases, and Ifugao PPO with 2 arrests and 2 filed cases in court.
Of the 1,149 assorted unlicensed/unregistered firearms recorded, 1,039 loose guns were surrendered by various individuals and stakeholders while 110 firearms were confiscated/recovered in different police operations.
Topping the list is Abra PPO which accumulated the most number of loose firearms with 335 FAs followed by Ifugao PPO with 154, Benguet PPO with 153, Mtn. Province PPO with 151, Kalinga PPO with 126, Baguio City Police Office with 116 and Apayao PPO with 114 loose firearms.
Loose firearms refer to an unregistered firearm, an obliterated or altered firearm, which has been lost or stolen, illegally manufactured firearms, registered firearms in the possession of an individual other than the licensee, and those with revoked licenses in accordance with the rules and regulations.
The accomplishments are the results of the continuous conduct of police operations regionwide and engagement with the community through dialogue with the residents and pulong-pulong in support of the PNP’s intensified campaign against Loose Firearms.
2022 RECAP: 2,065 WANTED PERSONS NABBED IN PROCOR’S MANHUNT OPS
As the result of the relentless efforts of the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) to track down persons wanted by the law, PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN MAFELINO A BAZAR, announced that more than 2,000 individuals wanted for various crimes were apprehended by PROCOR Cops in its year-long campaign against wanted persons in 2022.
According to the records from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD), a total of 2,065 individuals with warrants of arrest were arrested in separate manhunt operations conducted from January– December 2022.
The same record also revealed that the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) had recorded the highest number of arrests with 848 arrested wanted persons followed by the Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) with 511 arrests, Abra PPO with 194 arrests, Kalinga PPO with 183 arrests, Ifugao PPO with 175 arrests, Apayao PPO with 84 arrests, and Mountain Province PPO with 70 arrests.
Of the 2,065 wanted persons arrested, 364 individuals were listed as Most Wanted Persons (MWP) at various levels: 15 at the Regional Level, 151 at the Provincial Level, and 198 at the Municipal Level.
