Taxi driver, cohort arrested for shabu
Anti-narcotics agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera arrested a taxi driver and his cohort in a sting operation Wedsday night at Barangay Campo Filipino, Baguio City.
Leonardo S. Mayao, alias Gringo, 30 years old, taxi driver and a resident of Bobon, Virac, Itogon, Benguet was nabbed together with Lowell M. Martin, 35 years old, electrician and a resident of Loakan Liwanag, Baguio City for selling a heat-sealed sachet containing suspected shabu worth P5,000.00 to a PDEA agent.
Confiscated from them are the buy-bust money, a mobile phone and the taxi unit driven by Mayao for his illegal activities.
Both suspects are temporarily detained at the PDEA-CAR jail facility and will be slapped with a case for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act Number 9165 otherwise known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002”.
The arrest of the suspects came in the heels of successive buy-bust operations orchestrated by PDEA-CAR to eradicate the drug menace in the City of Baguio.**pdea-car
Alleged sexual harassment
On November 7, 2017 at 2:30 PM, a 12 year old female grade 6 pupil accompanied by her mother personally appeared at the Banaue MPS and reported an alleged sexual harassment committed by Ivan Biniahan Lingdis, legal age, teacher, and a resident of Proper Gohang, Banaue, Ifugao.
Investigation disclosed that the incident transpired on July 31, 2017 when the suspect caressed her buttock and neck, and further narrated that same incident also happened sometime in the year 2015. Case is for filing.
PROCOR focuses on motorcycle-riding suspects
PROCOR CAMP BADO DANGWA– Since the declaration of “hands off” in the anti-illegal drug operations, PROCOR is now focusing on the four priority programs of the CPNP, one of which are the motorcycle riding suspects who are considered contributory to the tarnishing of PNP’s reputation and credibility in its war against drugs.
Based on PROCOR data, a total of 29 crime incidents involving motorcycle riding suspects (MRS) were recorded from July to December 2016. Among the 29 cases, 4 cases were cleared. While this year, from January to October 2017, a total of 14 incidents were recorded with 7 incidents cleared and 4 incidents solved.
The most recent incident was the shooting of a tricycle driver identified as Benjie Valeros Bobias who was a resident of Brgy. Agtangao, Bangued, Abra on October 22, 2017 at Torrijos St., Zone 5, Bangued, Abra. The victim sustained gunshot wounds on his armpit, right forearm, left ear and chest and later died at Seares Memorial Hospital. A case for Murder was filed against the suspect who is still at large identified as Dante Viado Buenafe, 34, unemployed and a resident of Transmitter, Brgy. Bangbangar, Bangued, Abra.
PROCOR Regional Director PCSUPT Elmo Francis Oco Sarona advised his men to focus on running after motorcycle-riding hitmen and urged all investigators to conduct an in depth investigation on the matter and go after suspects.
Physical injuries (mauling)
At about 10:00 PM of November 8, 2017, at Sunshine Park, Baguio City, Franz Floyd Orille Lambino, 21 years old, male, single and a resident of No.5 Purok 4, Aurora Hill, Baguio City; Othneil Dela Villablanca Pena, 23 years old, single, male, loan assistant (Maybank), native of Pangasinan and resident of Unit 4 Gumamela Alley, Purok 1, Lower Brookside, Baguio City; and Carl Montenegro Rimando , 23 years old, single, courier, native of La Union and residing at No.40 Bakakeng Norte, Baguio City; were mauled by the arrested suspects Christopher Carta Chan, 19 years old, single, male, student (TESDA) and Reynante Carta Chan Jr., 18 year old, single, student (ALS) both natives of San Jacinto, Pangasinan and residents of No.141 Paraan Street, Victoria Village, Quezon Hill, Baguio City.
Victims averred that they were practicing their dance together with their group at Sunshine Park and while dancing the suspects came teasing the group which resulted in a verbal exchange between the two groups until the suspects challenged the group of the victims for a fist fight. The suspects then attacked the group of the victims causing injuries: Franz Floyd Lambino suffered a Lacerated wound, occipital area, abrassion, right elbow; Othneil Dela Pena suffered multiple abrasion, thora lumbar area while Carl Rimando suffered abrasion, upper right lip as shown in their medico-legal certificate. Responding personnel of Station 5 were able to arrest the suspects and the case against them is being prepared for inquest proceedings
