P7-M marijuana eradicated
Php7,078,200.00 worth of maijuana were destroyed in several areas in Benguet as hereinafter particularized..
Recently, a total Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) Value of Php2,864,200.00 worth of marijuana plants were destroyed at Moling, Palina, Kibungan, Benguet on January 12, 2020. Eleven (11) plantation sites were discovered with a land area of 260 square meters planted with 526 pieces of fully grown marijuana and found 23 kilos of dried marijuana.
In another operation, Php3,212,000.00 worth of marijuana were destroyed in Tubongan, Kayapa, Bakun, and in Gotgoto, Beleng Belis Kapangan, Benguet on January 9, 2020 where a total of 16,060 pieces of fully grown marijuana were uprooted on a1,770 square meter lot.
Likewise, a total of Php378,000.00 worth of marijuana were eradicated in Namalilian, Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet on January 8, 2020 on a 700 square meter lot.
Moreover, a total of Php624,000.00 worth of fully grown marijuana were discovered at Dupinas, Palina, Kibungan, Benguet on January 3, 2020.
Not one cultivator was arrested while all the contraband were burned on site and only samples were brought by the operatives for evidentiary purposes. Above operations were undertaken by joint operating troops of Kibungan, Kapangan, and Bakun MPS, Investigation and Drug Enforcement personnel of Benguet PPO and PDEA CAR.
Buy-bust operations net 5 suspects
Alfredo Bautista Bugay, 26, vegetable purchaser and a resident of Sta Lucia, Bataan was arrested in Betag, La Trindad, Benguet on the evening of January 10, 2020 while Jesus David Canlas, 30, carrot washer, and a resident of Km. 5, Pico, La Trinidad was arrested at Trading post, Km 5, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet on the afternoon of January 9, 2020.
One (1) plastic sachet of suspected shabu, cellular phone and Php1,000.00 buy-bust money was seized from Bugay while one (1) Samsung G7 cellular phone and Php1, 000 buy bust money was taken from Canlas.
Another suspect identified as Marvin B Cudlas, 36, farmer and a resident of Lon-oy San Gabriel, La Union was caught in Bekes, Buyacaoan, Buguias, Benguet on the afternoon of January 9, 2020 while Roy Dao-Asen Salaya, 26, was apprehended in his residence at Kalinga Village, Purok 14, Irisan, Baguio City on the morning of January 7, 2020.
Evidence taken from Cudlas were one (1) small heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and Php1,000 buy-bust money while one (1) transparent heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, marked money and a cellular phone were seized from Salaya.
A female drug carrier was arrested at Benguet Provincial Jail, Poblacion, La Trinidad, Benguet on the morning of January 11, 2020 after she was caught in possession of a sachet of suspected shabu inserted and sewed on her headband. Suspect Lady Josel Ronquillo, 28, sales lady, native and a resident of Gail Street, Nepo Subdivision, Cutcut, Angeles City was a listed visitor of one of the detainees inside the jail.
All arrested suspects are now under the custody of respective operating units and appropriate charges were filed against them in court for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
5 arrested, P4.4M marijuana seized
Two marijuana transporters on board an Ace Finder Bus bound for Tabuk City, Kalinga were arrested at a checkpoint at Purok 6, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga on the afternoon of January 13, 2020. Jose San Juan Raymundo Jr, 20, and resident of Brgy South Triangle, Quezon City and Kian Ty Cortez, 22, and a resident of Kamuning, Quezon City tried to evade the arresting officers but failed. In their possession were nine (9) transparent plastic in tubular form containing dried MJ leaves; and 28 bricks dried MJ leaves weighing 37 kgs worth Php 4,440,000.00 placed inside three separate traveling bags.
Moreover, two persons were arrested in separate buy-bust operations.
Policemen arrested Jan Jason Frondoso Galigo on the evening of January 13, 2020 at Km. 3, La Trinidad, Benguet while Eimreg T. Jimenez was apprehended on the afternoon of January 14, 2020 at Gibraltar Road, Pacdal, Baguio City. Evidence seized from Galigo were one plastic sachet containing suspected shabu worth Php 26, 520.00; Php1,000.00 cash money; Php19,000.00 boodle money and one cellphone whereas Php 1,500 buy-bust money, two (2) sachets of suspected shabu and a cellphone were seized from Jimenez.
Meanwhile a 16 year old minor student who is a resident of Urbano St., Baguio City was taken into custody after a cellophane containing marijuana leaves and stalks were found in his possession on the night of January 13, 2020 at Interior Labsan St., Baguio City.
