6 arrested, P3.8M MJ seized
In a recent checkpoint operation, two marijuana carriers identified as Rufino Tenedero Marmito Jr., 20, tricycle driver, and Ernie Manapao Leongson, 24, call center agent and both residents of Brgy. Tabe Guiguinto, Bulacan were arrested in a checkpoint in Sitio Ficoco, Samoki, Bontoc, Mtn. Province afternoon of January 19, 2020.
They were aboard a Coda Lines bus bound for Cubao, Quezon City when arrested. Personnel of the Bontoc police and PDEA confiscated 7 marijuana bricks and 5 tubular fruiting tops with a total weight of 8,200 grams worth P984,000.00, and assorted personal belongings from them.
While in separate buy-bust operations, two persons were nabbed last Friday after selling sachets of shabu to operatives who posed as buyers on January 17, 2020.
Female drug dealer recognized as Nicole Anne B. Cabarlo was arrested at East Quirino Hill, Baguio while another drug trader Ryan T. Tictica, 30, and a resident of Lamut, Beckel, La Trinidad, Benguet was held at Kayang-Hilltop, Baguio City. Confiscated from Cabarlo were three (3) sachets of suspected shabu, buy-bust money and a cellular phone while three (3) sachets of suspected shabu, and buy-bust money were taken from Tictica.
In another operation, police arrested Edward O. Calayon and his live-in partner, Betty K. Yubos, on the afternoon of January 17, 2020 in Sitio Moling, Palina, Kibungan, Benguet. Kibungan cops were conducting patrol and validation of marijuana plantation sites when Calayon, who was then holding marijuana stalks was sighted standing in front of a house together with his live-in partner who tried to escape but she was trapped so both were arrested. 14,850 grams of marijuana stalks and 500 grams of seeds worth Php1,802,000.00 were confiscated from them.
Meanwhile, over one million worth of marijuana plants were uprooted and destroyed in the municipalities of Bakun and Kibungan, Benguet during eradication operations on January 16, 2020.
Nine plantation sites were discovered by the operatives of Benguet Police Provincial Office together with members of the PDEA–CAR with a total land area of 1,215 square meters. The troops uprooted a total of 5,015 fully grown marijuana with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of Php1,017,000.00.
Vehicular accident
A vehicular accident transpired at around 3:00 AM of January 19, 2020 along KM6, Betag, La Trinidad, Benguet wherein the victim was identified as Denver Alejandro Kispay, 39, native of Balacbac, Kapangan, Benguet while the vehicle and its driver are still unidentified.
Initial investigation disclosed that the victim was crossing when he was bumped by an unidentified vehicle. Personnel of PCP2, La Trinidad MPS, Benguet PPO responded and brought the victim to Benguet General Hospital for medication but the victim was declared dead by attending physician Dra.Dionosia O.Garci at about 3:45 AM of January 19, 2020.
23 insurgents surrender in Abra
“Living a double life as a part-time insurgent is stressful.” This was the common factor that prompted 23 Militia ng Bayan members in Abra to surface and seek the help of law enforcers in returning to the fold of the law.
The oldest at 78 yrs old was a Militia ng Bayan for 5 yrs while the youngest was an insurgent for 6 years. They all hail from far flung barangays of the municipality of Sallapadan where NPAs frequently visit.
