4 arrested, about P1M MJ destroyed
Police arrested four drug suspects including a minor in a buy bust operation conducted by the Police and Drug Enforcement Units, while over P900,000.00 worth of marijuana plants were uprooted and burned onsite during a one day marijuana operation.
Joint operatives of La Trinidad police and members of the Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Dave Arquero Bugarin a.k.a. Bangkay, 37, vegetable porter, in his residence at Betag, La Trinidad, Benguet while Jayson Nazareno Salvador a.k.a. Boy, 23, vegetable retailer and listed as Street Level Individual, was collared in his residence at Palmaville, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet. Both were separately arrested on the afternoon of January 24, 2020.
One (1) heat-sealed sachet of suspected shabu, one (1) touchscreen Huawei and Php1,000.00 buy-bust money were recovered and seized from Bugarin’s possession, while four (4) sachets of suspected shabu, Php1,000 cash money, Php1,000.00 boodle money, and one (1) Cherry Mobile touch screen cellular phone were seized from Salvador.
In a progress report, both Bugarin and Salvador were denied the benefit of posting bail for violation of Section 5 or trading of illegal drugs. However, for the other violation, Bugarin has a recommended bailbond of Php 120,000.00 while Salvador has a recommended bailbond of Php 2,000.00.
Other suspects named Junjun Battung Vital, 18, self -employed and a 17 year old minor student, both residents of San Ramon, Mallig, Isabela were also apprehended at Buyucan, Nambaran, Tabuk City, Kalinga on the afternoon of January 25, 2020. Seized from their possession were one (1) plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, sando bag containing suspected dried marijuana leaves and stalks, and Honda RS 150 motorcycle without plate number.
Moreover, a total of Php956,200.00 worth of marijuana plants were eradicated in Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet on January 24, 2020.
201 police officers take oath
One Hundred Ninety Nine (199) police recruits took their oath as new members of the Philippine National Police while two newly promoted Police Colonels their new ranks this morning at Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet witnessed by their families, relatives and friends.
Regional Director Police Brigadier General Israel Ephraim T. Dickson administered the donning of ranks of PCol Laureano Alexis Marinas, and PCol Mario Mayames Jr. followed by the oath-taking of the 199 PNP successful applicants who qualified to fill up the attrition quota for PROCOR.
PCol Marinas is currently the Chief of the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD), while PCol Mayames heads the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15. Earlier this week, another newly promoted Police Colonel, Peter M Tagtag Jr. was also pinned and donned of his new rank during the flag raising ceremony.
Out of the 1185 applicants who applied in the Online Recruitment Application System (ORAS), only the 199 composed of 47 females and 152 males made it in the sequential stages of recruitment, such as the physical agility test; psychiatric/psychological examination; physical, medical and dental examination; drug test; and complete background investigation.
“With you as additional force, do whatever it takes to protect our people in ensuring their safety and security and to maintain the good image of PROCOR as the most disciplined police in the country,” PBGEN Dickson said in his message
After the oath taking ceremony, the new patrolmen and patrolwomen underwent the traditional reception rites which signals their official entry into the training ground, before they were officially turned over to the Cordillera Administrative Region Training School where they will undergo the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course for six months. They were received by the Regional Training Director, PLtCol Manolito D. Parazo.
Part of the program is the awarding of members of the Recruitment and Selection Board for their efforts in efficiently supervising the selection process.**
